Oh noz, the sky is falling.
I hope I’m lucky enough to see some of this shower.
We saw quite a few falling stars last weekend while having a family campout. It was kind of neat to see the little ones getting a look at their first falling stars.
“According to the International Meteor Organization, about 10 Perseids per hour are now streaking across the night sky: data. This number could increase to as many as 200 per hour when Earth crosses an anticipated filament of comet dust around 0800 UT (1 a.m. PDT) on August 12th. Observing tips and a sky map may be found in the Science@NASA story ‘The Perseids are Coming.’”

They’re a fantastic show here in the NM mountains.
Bush's Fault?
Cool.
Will be ruined this year by a bright moon every night.
Next Year looks good though
Have you seen the reports of the Black hole actually firing some sort of force that destoys or expodes anything in it’s path. Thereby creating more and more of these meteors. Very weird
spaceping,self
WooHoo! The Perseids! I just hope we have a clear night or two in the next week so we can see them!
This can only mean one thing. My birthday will shortly be here! Peak of the Perseids this year is the night of August 12. On the 13th, I’ll turn 56.
OMG! I just watched Nick Cage in “Knowing” last night. (Boolah-Boolah).
I’m not looking up until it is over. Does anyone remember “Day of the Triffids”?
I have been an amateur astronomer for 40 years now and have only seen maybe 2 Perseid showers. Either the weather has been bad, the Moon too bright, or something else has come up to keep me from seeing this shower. I did get to see the big Leonid shower back in 99 and I can’t even describe that.
The Perseid meteor shower is slowly intensifying as Earth plunges deeper in Comet Swift-Tuttle's debris stream.

Oh the joys of living in Seattle. If it’s not cloud cover, it’s really tall trees occluding the sky.
