Lou Dobbs reported tonight that the Federal Election Commission does not require any proof of citizenship to run for Presidency.
Simple answer to your question:
YOU WERE FOLLOWING CONGRESSIONAL LAWS, not broad Constitutional Principals.
The Constitution is NOT legislation.
Are you telling me that the, say, the qualification that a President must be an American citizen, naturalized via birth, does not apply to ALL STATES? We are not talking primary dates or anything else, we are talking about the qualification a person MUST MEET to run for the President of the United States....and you are telling me that EVERY STATE can have a different qualification? You are telling me Arnold can run?
Appointment of Electors.
Appointment of Delegates to a National Convention.
Lifelong study of the rules.
As a matter of Con law, Congress already "screwed the pooch" by not challenging qualifications before certifying the electors ballots. There is no way Congress is going to investigate its own screw up.
IMO, impeachment isn't the proper remedy, as impeachment presumes the office is held by somebody qualified. Not to say impeachment is off the table, just that impeachment wouldn't be for the basis of "you are not a natural born citizen."
There may be room for a legislated "solution," too. Congress passed a law that (arguably) results in concluding that McCain is a natural born citizen (born in Panama, not in the canal zone); it could produce a retroactively effective law to do the same for Obama, if it had to.
See Judge Alsup's decision in Robinson v. Bowen for a discussion of the law that "helps" McCain obtain "natural born citizen" status, as well as a concise description of how qualifications are challenged.
See too, Hollander v. McCain for disposal of a McCain qualification challenge raised by a voter.
Courts don't want to step into this issue either. Best I can tell, the people do not have a remedy. This isn't the only issue where the feds totally stiff the people.

I am saying that it is up to each State to decide how to enact legislation in this matter, to achieve the Constitutionally desired result.

Congress could not, therefore, by legislation, retroactively fix this problem. This is precisely what the wording of the Constitution was meant to avoid.
Next, McCain's situation was entirely different.
BOTH of McCain's parents were United States Citizens.
BOTH of McCain's parents were old enough to confer AUTOMATIC citizenship to John McCain, at BIRTH.
McCain would be a “NATURAL BORN CITIZEN” even if he had been born on the moon.
And so, how did Uhbama meet the criteria? And what state’s criteria would that be? I mean, how many ways are there to be BORN a NATURAL CITIZEN?
I just spent the last two hours listening to this man and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It is amazing the stuff about Obama. He said that Obama is busy scrubbing everything he doesn’t like from the interenet. IMO, that must be the 18 million we are spending for the internet. We know very little about the Czars he has appointed and they only answer to him and he and his wife are training over thousands of community organizers to do what he is not sure. He also said the more he learns about Obama the less he knows. When his cousing was running for election in Kenya; they had plans to rewrite Kenya’s constitution and turn it into an Islam country. If you have heard some of the speeches Obama has made before its because they have been given before by I believe he said the Gov of Mass. David Axelrod was this guys campaign manager and his campaign was a test run for Obama’s campaign. Obama was part of a lawsuit against Citibank back in 1995 telling them they could not give mortgages to black people. It was fascinating. If they archive this show; people should give a listen.
Back in the olden days (well, less than 10 years ago) I read a lot of USENET news groups. (Remember those?) One particular group I liked to read had its share of characters.
One such character (who sort of polarized the group) had posted plenty of personal information and incriminating remarks across several newsgroups. This individual, over apparently one weekend (a very short period of time, one to three days) erased everything "ugly" that she'd posted about herself. She took the ammunition out of everyone's hands (because they kept dredging up her old posts to point out her inconsistencies).
When I read of BO scrubbing the Web of everything he could, I thought of that USENET "character."
Here is another example of how the Feds mess everything up.
Yes, I remember USENET. This guy clearly doesn’t want anyone knowing who he is or what he is doing. Not his cabinet nor the Congress. Maybe the Congress should start understanding this as they make law.

I was in a diner in NJ when the news report said that an assassination attempt had stated that Reagen (forgive me) had been shot, but had survived. I could overhear people saying, loudly, “It’s a damn shame he survived!”.

Please forgive me my rant, but what happened to the rule of the people? What happened to MAJORITY rules? What happened to love of country?
Why do I turn on Nickelodeon for kids and hear some teen scream “I HATE AMERICA!”?
However, there is no automatic procedure in place, anywhere, to check the qualifications on this issue.
That is why legislation needs to be passed, at the State level, to empower the State election officer to certify that every candidate for President or Vice President is qualified..
