UPDATE: Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor UPDATE: KTUU-TV in Anchorage reports that Palin not only won't seek re-election, but will resign later this month.
ORIGINAL POST: Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has announced she will not run for re-election in 2010, CNN reports. She's scheduled to make an announcement shortly.
The decision frees Palin to travel in the Lower 48 as she considers a potential run for president in 2012. A re-election campaign could also have been tough on the former vice presidential nominee; her approval rating has dropped from stratospheric highs, and a number of candidates in both parties are said to be considering runs.
Even if she won, the race would have been dominated by the specter of a presidential bid, giving her adversaries an opportunity to wound her politically. She's still fending off ethics complaints, many spurred by the "Troopergate" scandal.

I trust Gov. Palin’s judgment and leadership. She is free to soar politically (make the run for the White House in 2012; or soar fiancially—bookdeal? Or combine the two (kinda like that Former Unior Senator from Ilinois).
I foresee great things for this talented American woman.
New taggy below, in honor of Sarah...

Pathetic!
In point of fact, Washington never quit growing tobacco, or quit distilling whiskey or several other entrepreneurial enterprises he was involved in. All throughout his Presidency, he continued owning his farming and distilling business.
If someone is in a position which is hurting her state, why would it be considered a bad move to quit? If she would be more effective in helping bring conservative values back to our country, back to our government by not being a governor, why is that bad? Maybe she’s got more guts and integrity than any can believe in because it’s so hard to find in our society anymore.
I think there are good things to come. Maybe not what people expect, but overall will be beneficial.

After what the left has done to the gov over the last few months, I have only three words for the ‘Rats if Palin does indeed run: God help ya.
And thank goodness he failed. Can you imagine a cultist like that in the White House?
LMAO But what about this Wendy's I brought?? ;-)
Well then, I guess ol’ George Washington was a quitter too! (Not!)He resigned his commission after the war, and went back home! Then, they practically had to twist his arms to come back into politics again!
He was getting tired of being away from home, but he did his duty as Pres. as best as he could, once he did win. He was a wonderful leader, considering that he wasn’t raised to be “king”, even if it was for just a 4 year term. He had no precedent. Once in the presidency, he apparently planned to resign, and let J. Adams take over! (that’s what I’d read once, anyway)
Of course, we all know he won, filled his term, then went on for another term. They had to twist his arms to run for that second term. He knew that politics was a cutthroat world anyway! If he had still been a young man, he would’ve relished it, he did initially! However, he was really tired and burnt out after that.
If it is His Will she become the POTUS then her faith will guide her actions and nothing the forces of darkness can do will stop it.
I view my role as a simple soldier in the field ready to do what he can to help her...until such time as she herself says to stop.
I keep thinking Mark Twain: “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated”
That's what Bob Dole did when he stepped down as Kansas' Senator to focus on running for President.

I think this is a shrewd move and I agree that this is her first campaign speech for the 2012 election.
It drasticaly simplifies her situation.
Alaska is hip deep in the bodies of politicians who underestimated her.
Worth repeating.
I honestly feel she’s grown to a
new level, deliberating where she
and her state were, since she came
to this fork in the road.
I feel very good about this move for
her and her family.
As they say: it is what it is
and by that, I mean her daily reality,
that her very existence on this earth
is a source of such contention!
You can’t control what others do; you
can only control what you do.
She prayed about this .. and I feel
this decision has settled on her with
great peace.
Times are tumultuous.
Life is very uncertain these days.
No one knows what’s coming tomorrow.
But we do know it’s short.
We just don’t know how short.
I feel remarkably at peace for her,
that this is very right. Women AND
men of lesser fortitude would’ve
long ago gone berserk from all the
vicious, demonic hounding.
This will also set up a lot of new,
unexpected political dynamics.
The theory of consequences of actions
is about to kick in. The balls are in
the air, and we’ve got no idea who the
next hot political player will be.
All the pundits can talk about is asking
if she’s contriving a political move,
asking what’s going on behind the scenes,
is she wimping out .. a quitter .. as if
the political life is the be all and end
all.
There IS more to this one life on
earth.
God bless her and her family. The
Alaskans are the losers .. but Sarah
will always be a winner, whatever
she does, for she walks in faith.
God IS on His throne, and He has His
plan.
I’ve been saying lately, with all the
horrors and upheavals in our lives in
every city and state of this country:
the Gates of Hell are open .. the Devil
is walking the earth. If so, he just
lost a target.
Don’t forget Clint, Gov. Palin is also writing a book and can be free to get out and tell what really went on with the Liberal trashers
sadly, she really needs to get a thicker skin if she intends to seek higher office, screw the critics, no one watches/listens to them anyhow. in any event, that announcement was just weird.
Same here, Kehoe. Thanks.
I wouldn’t compare Dole to Palin.
