During an emotional news conference, SC Gov. Stanford said he is resigning as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.1 minute ago from BNO Headquarters
Agreed. I guess Sanford got cought and was told he would be told on. I guess he will marry miss Argentina. I think Mrs. Sanford and Mrs. Edwards should get togther at a beach house and take all their money.
Given that both go against the best interest of the narcissists who tend to run for political power I do not believe we will ever see either enacted.

Agreed. But the present trajectory cannot continue without most people being consumed in a prison filled with a heart-destroying-pessimism. Good men will become sick men.
Excellent albeit sarcastic point. They said that about Clinton when he ran for President the first time -- and I recall loudly disputing that issue with friends, family, and various politico's. Then came the Lewinsky scandal and they said, "it's only about sex." Think of all the good things BJ is doing. Well, of course it was very much about an immoral scandal in the Oval Office itself, an intern employee, and he lied to the world about it. And Clinton got every woman in his cabinet to come out and defend him, including Ms. Albright.
So this is now the present day standard of decent behavior, of public honesty, of displayed moral values?
True, you’re right.
Here’s what I’m wondering.
Didn’t the Ensign story break BEFORE Sanford left to go to Argentina? If so, what was this guy thinking was going to happen when he got back?
Also, he said the relationship was over? Why not just break it off over a phone call or email or something? I thought the idea of “good-bye sex” was something that only existed in the American Pie 2 movie. Sounds like somebody was getting ready to spill the beans.
As for Sarah in ‘12, she needs to start getting more active statements out there concerning the turmoil in Iran, the North Korea ship, the current health care reform debacle, and the Obama stimulus failure out there now. Of course, the press is going to make her look stupid, but she’ll look prophetic by the time 2012 rolls around. If she stays too quiet, the media will throw the whole “what experience does she have” card again. Okay, they’ll probably do that anyway, but best to be actively involved and check them first.
Agreed. He may be less conservative than I would want, but he (as far as we know) has remained faithful to his wife and to his sacred vows.
>> Nice to see the Obama war room vetting our potential candidates for us... < / sarcasm off >
My reaction to hearing about this on the radio today is that we’re better off with this guy out of the picture. What was it about Sanford that allowed him to believe that the constituency would suffer no consequences for the affair?
The Republicans need a cheat sheet to help them navigate the obvious.
Not guilty!
Sin is extremely powerful once it founds a comfortable place in one’s already sinful heart. I’m sure his decision had nothing to do with whether or not his family would be destroyed.
I’m sure he cares for his wife and children very deeply. It’s disgusting what sin can do but.......Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
This verse is kind of taken out of context here and doesn’t mean he should be governor anymore. My point is, lest thou also be tempted. The power of sin and the wickedness of our own hearts are greater than we suppose sometimes.
note when a Dem does this , not much from the media and no signal to what party they belong to
republican does this and BANG that big R will always be there
I’ll remove Sanford from my tagline...but there is NO WAY I’m supporting Palin.
Another one bites the dust.
Another one that thinks, "Oh, I'LL never get caught!" Or, another one that has a death wish and does stupid things knowing he will get caught. If the guy can't take the pressure of being governor, I don't want him in the oval office.
where has Sarah made a comment supporting amnesty? Are you intpreting something she said during the 2008 cycle that was wishy-washy not to counter or upset McCain’s amnesty views?
I really haven’t heard her comment on the subject. Since this is such a hot button issue (especially on this forum) I find it hard to believe she could support amnesty and yet still keep the support she does with the base and on here.
Do you have a link I can see what she said?
This is horrible news for the conservative cause. Mark Sanford would be an excellent pro-life, free market candidate. Now comes a weird, spectacular flame-out.
We need leaders with integrity! The twin libertine evils — the high rate of divorce and record levels of children raised by single parents — are ravaging the moral fabric of our country.
Liberal Democrats feast on social decay and thrive when conservatives like Sanford falter. Socialism just took another step forward.
Guess he thought dropping trouser out of the US didn’t count.
Both sides in this country are mad. The question will be who will win out, those of us who love our country and want smaller government or those who can’t live without a nanny state.
Like stupid athletes who destroy their multi-million dollar career for drugs. Or dog fights.
Maybe he is writing a novel about an unfaithful politician and needed to do some research.
That's what we think about a number of them, until they surprise us.
