During an emotional news conference, SC Gov. Stanford said he is resigning as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.1 minute ago from BNO Headquarters
Why do think that Obama and the RINO’s detest Palin and want to destroy her?
She reminds them too much of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. She can’t be bought and she has principles and lives by them.
But even in France, where politicians who don't engage in affairs are practically considered freaks, a pol who purported to support an agenda promoting family values, advocating traditional mores & offering a vigorous defense of of the civil institution of marriage would be shamed for his hypocrisy.
Heck, people everywhere, even here, are more willing to turn a blind eye to officeholders who are unfaithful to their wives than those who are unfaithful to their public pronouncements. It's one thing for these guys to betray their spouses because that is indeed their business. It's quite another when they betray us after he or she has chosen to make it our business as part of his or her proposed political agenda, no?
If he IS sleeping with Miss Argentina he would want to point that out right away.
It may get him a pass.
I still believe in conservatism, but I no longer believe in conservative politicians.
The only people who need to be in political power are those that really don’t want to be there. Term limits (local, state, federal) for every politician would begin the distaste for political power.
Oh...thanks....that is GOOD!
Yes, but I don’t think he would have commited suicide over it.
Was he on a big public anti-marital-infidelity crusade I haven’t heard of? What does this have to do at all with his political beliefs?
In that case, I’m even angrier. He had a responsibility to his wife AND the conservative cause. And he blew it. And he not only cheated, but he did it in a way that made it IMPOSSIBLE to not get caught. Did he think he could disappear for a week and not have it be noticed?
Term limits and limits on the time the House/Senate is in session will go a long way in stopping career politicians.
Given that both go against the best interest of the narcissists who tend to run for political power I do not believe we will ever see either enacted.
Claiming conservative beliefs and position does indicate a person would not cheat on their spouse and would not take an oath made before God and man so lightly. If he can’t be honest to his spouse what makes you think he would be honest to the people he represents?
His cousin, Terry Sanford, was a Democrat presidential candidate in 1972, along with John Lindsay et al.
Pretty obvious he wanted to get caught.
Sanford term-limited himself in the U.S. House. I guess he could say he was personally investigating immigration issues.
Excuse me but Obama who I cannot stand in any way shape or form didn’t tell him to go to Argentina or have an affair.
Put the blame where it belongs on Sanford and be glad that this didn’t come out after he was running for President.
Sanford was wrong and needs to take full personal responsibility which he seems to be doing. Not the media’s fault either. He did it to himself.
Reposting from another thread:
>> For ME the MORE Conservative, the better rock on Sanford.
But looking at this SHORT list:

- Newt Gingrich
- John McCain (first wife)
- Rudy Giuliani
- David Vitter
- Larry Craig
- Henry Hyde
- etc.
Democrat politician that have had extra-marital affairs:
- Kennedy (take your pick)
- Bill Clinton
- James McGreevey
- Jon Corzine
- Eliot Spitzer
- John Edwards
- etc. <<
Maybe the Ancient Chinese were on to something when they made their rulers eunuchs. I would bet that any politician willing to loose their manhood to serve the public good would have enough cajones to actually make the right decisions.
maybe you should vote for Romney in 2012.
he holds liberal values but lives his life very conservatively.
We won’t even decline to nominate them, and then we “have” to elect them.
Sarah should hunt him down and have his head as trophy next to the moose /sarc
His poor sons and wife, what a shame.
I don’t know. He seems to have done pretty well by the people of South Carolina. Much better than most of his own party in his own state.
“I agree he should resign. It is people like him and in positions of power who are letting us all down.”
I am so saddened by this. This was one man I thought we could trust. Look how many good men we have lost now because they were thinking with their d——s and not their heads.
