I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.
Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.
I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.
Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.
I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.
We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!
We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.
We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.
We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.
We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!
And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.
And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!
We bow to no king but God!
Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!
Do NOT Tread on US!
Thank you very much!
“There are far more productive ways to advance the conservative agenda.”
But stomping your feet and holding your breath until you turn blue are more personally satisfying and require so much less effort than heavy lifting.
but the greatest and grandest duty of all is to labor for the dead! (Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, Vol II, pp 42-44).
Joseph F Smith now knows how wrong he was...

Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their dead: but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:60
Jesus also said...
Look, I tell you, open your eyes and observe that the fields are ready for harvesting now! John 4:35b
We must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night comes, when no man can work. John 9:4
And Jesus told why the dead cannot be “baptised” Once they are dead it is too late...
Luk 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luk 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Luk 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luk 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence.
Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:19:31
If you think we hated Romney, you should have seen some of the Rudy threads.
It was war. Moderate rino’s are not welcome around here.
Perhaps that is a good reason as to why it isnt a good idea to tell our fellow Americans that they, RINOS, arent welcome in the Republican party.
***And also, perhaps not. By the way, this isn’t a republican website. It’s a conservative one.
Id rather a RINO vote for a Republican than a Democrat.
***So would I. I’m glad to see we’re on the same page. In the last election, 20% of those who called themselves “conservative” voted for Obama. Those are the RINOs. If JimRob and the GOP doesn’t rid itself of this RINO infestation, the problem will persist.
We might not have gotten Obama if wed stop shooting those who at least agree with us on most of the issues.
***There are core issues. Im a big tent republican.

Heres an analogy to work with. Take a small box and fill it with some rocks. Then add some rice, filling it to the top. Now take all the same stuff, but in a different order. Put in the rice first, then add the rocks. What youll find is that if you put in the big stuff first, the small stuff will fit around it. But if you put in the small stuff first, the big stuff wont have room. The republican tent is the box. The Big issues are the socon issues, to be put in first. The little issues are things that can be accommodated around the bigger stuff. A candidate who tries to focus on the smaller issues first and leave out the bigger issues has no way of getting all of us into the tent. He splits the party. The candidate who gets the big stuff right and as much of the little stuff that will fit, he can fit more into the tent. Were often amazed at how much rice can keep fitting in. Rudy Giuliani flunks some of the big issues, and on some of the little issues it looks to me like anyone elses rice would do just as well. All that remains for us to agree on is which are the bedrock principles and which are not. Why would there be so much invective aimed at rudy from the right? Because there are some bedrock principles that he is leaving out. Bad move. I see rudybot postings all the time saying that they would vote for Hunter, and I see socon postings that say they would not vote for rudy. Thats a BIG indicator of a few bedrock principles that are being left outside the tent in order to let in some rice.

Seems to me
***There’s yer problem, right there.
that anyone who disagrees with a self-described conservative on even one issue, is then labeled as a RINO
***Nope.
and told they are not welcome anymore.
***It appears to be plain as day that the RINOs pushing Romney are no longer welcome on this site. I’d say that’s a start.
Since when do freedom loving Americans refuse to allow any disagreement whatsoever on the issues?
***Disagreement is fine, but what you put together there was a straw argument. It’s an exaggeration of the opposing position in order to make it look indefensible.
I know people that you would call RINOS.
***So do I. And I think they should even be welcome to operate here on FR, out in the open, just like all the other liberals are welcome. What’s needed is an idealogy litmus matrix, so we know where they’re coming from. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2152822/posts?page=49#49
Read the link before you lead with another straw argument.
And yet not one of them voted for Obama.
***It’s a secret ballot system here in the US. You have no way of knowing that they did or didn’t.
Anyone who thinks that the majority of Americans should or will march in lockstep with the perfect conservatives on every issue are living in la-la land, in my humble opinion.
***Another straw argument. I don’t think the “majority of Americans” will or should mark in lockestep with “perfect conservatives”.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Christ’s yoke is easy and HIS burden is light.
The LDS burden is VERY HEAVY and the yoke painful. This is true of ANY group that says Christ alone is not enough.
We as unregenerated humans cannot CHOOSE to walk in the ways of the Lord, we walk in his ways because he has ALREADY changed us and made us a new creature (regenerated us) by grace through faith in his FINISHED work on the Cross, not through our own ‘filthy rags’.
ot some tradition of man church in the world which will parish when the earth is translated.

You mean like the LDS?!? You are backing the wrong horse, Resty.
Why I don’t believe I could-a said it better myself.

You may be right, but I fail to see how.
***Your failure is not really my problem. Here’s a question for you to consider: When lions cull the antelope herds of the weak & diseased, does that make the herd stronger, or weaker?
Ain’t that the truth.
excellent summary of the differences.

Apparently I've offended you. My apologies.
No apology necessary, no offense taken.
“If you think we hated Romney, you should have seen some of the Rudy threads.

What we hope to find before the next election is a conservative candidate. However, moderate rinos should always be welcome in the party as we need them in the voting booth. Like I’ve said, I’ve known what folks call “rinos”, and just because I disagree with them on some of the issues doesn’t make me better than them, and it doesn’t make them better than me. We just respectfully disagree on some things but we all vote for the “right” candidate on voting day.
It’s relative, for a New York politician, Rudy was conservative. He would have been more conservative than that as President. But if he ran as a Texas conservative in NYC, he never would have gotten elected Mayor in the first place.
The Third Party dead-enders have been allowed to take over the site I’m not sure why. Even the once-banned John Birchers are welcome while Republicans have been invited to leave.

Did you read the post? FR is a CONSERVATIVE site, not a REPUBLICAN site. Not all conservatives are Repubs anymore, especially with the left turn the party is taking.
And I don't need any lectures from you about this site. FYI: they attack Reagan too.
Thanks for your thoughts. I am well aware that this is a conservative website. That’s why I signed on. But as a conservative I do have some opinions of my own regarding how we treat others, rinos in particular. I can’t hardly convince someone to come around to my way of thinking if I spend more time insulting them than conversing with them.
Just because this is a conservative website does not mean that it is not read by “rinos” who could have, might have changed their opinions on some of the issues if it weren’t for all the insults and irrational hatred being slung at ‘em. Find a conservative candidate and then convince everyone, rinos included, that they are the best candidate for our country’s future.

How would you define a "moderate RINO"?
