Dinosaur Blood Protein, Cells Recovered

(see article link for picture links!)

April 30, 2009 — It’s official: soft tissue, including blood vessel proteins and structures resembling cells, have been recovered from dinosaur bone. Mary Schweitzer’s amazing claim in 2005 (03/24/2005) was subsequently disputed as possible contamination from biofilms (07/30/2008). Now, Schweitzer and her team took exceptional precautions to avoid contamination by excavating hadrosaur bone from sandstone said to be 80 million years old. A short description of her findings, and a picture of the tissue, was announced today by New Scientist. The paper was published in the May 1 issue of Science.[1] Read the press release from Schweitzer’s institution, North Carolina State University, which says that the preservation of soft tissue in this duck-billed dinosaur fossil was even better than the material from the T. rex sample analyzed in 2005.

Robert F. Service commented on the finding in the same issue of Science...

Or evidence that tissue can survive longer than we thought under the right conditions.

I found a Neospirifer Rocky Montanus brachiopod completely intact from a gravel pit here in Fairborn, Ohio. The clam was shut, and you could see mud jammed along the crack. Perfectly consistent with sudden death by mud. Based upon my estimate from holding the specimen in my hand, it was more like 3000 years old, not the 300 million you find in the literature. But what do I know against the mythology preached by the Darwinians?

You found a Rocky Mountain Oyster?

recently near where I live there was a dinosaur fossil discovery, I noticed the strata it was found in, and the type of SOIL surrounding the fossils, found in place (i.e. not distributed by natural processes).

There is no way that the matrix surrounding the fossils was millions of years old, as it was top-soil, with still visible organic matter just a few feet from the fossils (they ware about 4 foot down, exposed as in a wash).

The way science works is that until you have overwhelming evidence (not just her and there), the coventional theory is still king.

The evidence however, is piling up. It’s easier to explain young earth and massive, punctuated sudden changes in the environment to produce the fossil beds than millions of years of slow change. Each side needs creative explanations for some observations, but they are far less outlandish on the relatively young earth side.

Frankly, do you REALLY believe tissue is viable after 80 MILLION YEARS?

If so, please name the “right conditions” I can use to preserve any flesh for 80 million years. Imagine the egyptian mummies after 1 million.....DUST.

Well, there you have it: irrefutable scientific evidence. And did you find it in situ? And, if so, were the surrounding sediments also 3000 years old? How was this determined? Oh, never mind. Your estimate ought to be more than enough to settle the case.

Explain to me how this piece of animal tissue is evidence of a young Earth.

For such a repository of clear thinking, I sometimes simply don’t have the words for some of the utter NONSENSE that gets posted on this site.

Except to say,

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

“Explain to me how this piece of animal tissue is evidence of a young Earth.”

Maybe you can explain how they dated this piece of animal tissue at 80 million (give or take a few days) years old?

Over the last 2,000,000 years we’ve had 20 major glaciations. They definitely moved some real estate around. At the same time, when they went into their final meltdown it happened pretty fast. So, yeah, lots of jumbling up and so on but you gotta’ buy into the 2 million year thing first. Otherwise there’s not time enough for the last 20 ice ages. Can’t freeze and melt that much ice that fast.

I don't konw how they dated it. I do know how they date the age of the Earth, and it isn't with dinosaur bones.

Can you document that? Be a little more specific?

Go ahead and explain it.

It's late, I'm tired, and that information is freely available to any who's inclined to go look for it.

Now, let's see if that turns out to be grounds to try and make it look like I'm lying about it or trying to evade some ephemeral issue.

um, ahhh, the fossils in question were in TEXAS.

if you goto this link http://petesplace-peter.blogspot.com/2008/03/extent-of-glaciation-in-north-america.html

you will find that Texas was never in glaciation.

We (mostly) also don’t believe in the junk science of Global Warming.
