I haven't posted in a very long time and I hope the pictures post correctly. The Convention was held in Orlando at the Gaylord Palms. It was a fun, informative event and nice to put a face to all the Freepers. Our thanks go out to ROOS_Girl, MinuteGal, and seekthetruth for organizing the event. Thanks to Surfer for moderating...what a great job he did. Special thanks to all the speakers who shared their knowledge with all of us. Please share your comments about the event.
Our convention was called the "Freeper Southeast Regional Convention"
Why? It's because Jim Robinson put out a call to action a couple months ago. He charged FR chapters with the task of organizing and holding regional conventions across the fruited plain.
This is why we invited freepers in the adjoining states of Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas to join in the convention. They were not only invited on all our threads to participate but chapter members in all the states listed above received about two or three mass freepmailings.
No one from these states showed, but I believe I read today that Georgia is thinking of holding its own convention. Perhaps chapters in other states will do the same. This is why we're posting comments about our successful convention on this thread....hopefully motivating other chapters to "go and do thou likewise", to quote the Good Book.
We certainly crammed a lot of business and information into our one-day convention....and you don't even want to know how much fun and freeptalk we had part of the day (Friday) before the Saturday meetings, even on Sunday morning at the Java Coast coffee house sitting outside in the early sunshine, sipping our caffein eye-openers ....it would make everyone green with envy.
Thanks for asking this great question, Fawn.

So far, so good.
I’ll at least send a version of my handout. When and where is your convention?
Mike, it was good to meet you and your wife. Hopefully, we can turn some of the things we discussed into an action plan. We definitely need to be active in our local elections.
To paraphrase Ronaldo Magnus, we are one generation from losing the freedom our fore fathers, and subsequent generations past down to us.

Back home and back on FR after the GREAT convention this past weekend. Between closing down the bars both Friday and Saturday night (you know who you are...snicker) and Saturday’s informative day session, this was a not to miss weekend.
I’m so glad to have met some many wonderful people; spending a weekend with other like minded folks has been refreshing. We also met others who were at the Gaylord for other conventions or activities who were very interested in Free Republic and planned on looking into the site when they got home. In fact, of the literally dozens of people we talked to, not a single one said they supported Obama or the direction the country has been taking under him, even people who are life-long democrats were against what he’s been doing. It was great.
For those who were not able to come to this convention I strongly urge you to attend the next one....trust me, it’s not only worth it, you’ll have a fantastic time.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for calling into our convention on Saturday, it was nice to put a voice with the fact and name I’ve been seeing for 9 years now.
Anyway we can convince you to take a Florida vacation for our next convention??? Hey, we were only 1 mile from Disney!!!!
You’re not kidding Leni, my pic looks like a mug shot!!!!
Ok I’ll admit it, I’m in pic #8 when I won the cute featherd bear for being born closest to July 4,
btw....has our coup been announced?

Hey, how’s the puppy?
Thank you very much. I was hoping to make this one, but couldn’t swing it. Maybe we’ll be in better shape next time.
I sure hope you’re feeling better for the next one.
It really was a great convention, tons of ideas, not only how to take back our country, but for getting more like minded individuals involved with Free Republic...

You said it! Sure was a great time! :)
It’s awesome, thanks for asking! The kids needed the day to adjust to it, but they’ve started to lose the initial fear of her. Give me an email addy, and I’ll send you some pics of her.
We’re not sure about her name yet, but we’re thinking Wubzy or Pogo ;)
Great, glad to hear it....I’ll freep mail you my email addy for pics....
I’m voting for Pogo that’s a cute name....
It was great meeting you and all the other Freepers this weekend, and yes we all had a great time!
I’m already looking forward to the next convention we have, I hope even more Florida Freepers can get in with the fun...
$400 bucks on coffee....no wonder we were up to 3am Saturday night...
We Florida Freepers are great at spreading the word about FreeRepublic.com!
Hubby and I just got our FreeRepublic.com T-shirts today
from Freeper Seeking The Truth at http://0cents.com/. They came in todays mail along with our neat FreeRepublic.com bumper sticker.
Now all we need to do is order a box of cards like MinuteGal does! Everywhere we go we will have some cards with us to pass out.
Maybe when new Florida Freepers come on board I can get JimRob to send them a freepmail note to contact me so I can add them to my great big Florida Freeper list! :)
“Im already looking forward to the next convention we have, I hope even more Florida Freepers can get in with the fun...”
Me too! I also hope more Florida Freepers will get to come too. No one would say it is too far to travel after they attend a Freeper event like we had! You sure came a long ways from Homestead! And so glad you did! :)
