At todays daily White House briefing, White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs will announce that the administration will lift travel, remittance, mail and business restrictions relating to the Communist nation of Cuba.
The changes will allow unlimited visits to family members on the island as well as unlimited remittances -- the cash recent immigrants to the U.S. send to relatives back home. President Bush imposed stricter restrictions on both in 2004.
"As hard as we search, we can't find anyone who thinks the limitations Bush put on family travel and family remittances in 2004 were a good idea," a senior administration official tells ABC News.
The Obama administration will also take steps to enhance the flow of information by allowing U.S. telecommunications networks to link the U.S. and Cuba; and will allow an expansion of humanitarian items that can be sent to the island (including clothing, personal hygiene items and fishing equipment). It will remain illegal to send items to senior government officials and members of the Communist Party. "These steps are being taken in support of the Cuban people's desire to freely determine their own future and to open up the space needed to see democratic progress in Cuba," says a White House official.

Why I do sense all Godfather 2 resets
I’m not a huge fan of the embargo, but shouldn’t we at least be using this as a bargaining chip? It seems to me we could easily peel Cuba out of Putin’s and Chavez’s respective spheres of influence if we cut a deal here instead of just giving away the farm.
Neither did I, and I have the same feeling. Living in Florida, I'd have to say it's the feeling you get when you're standing in the surf and the waves suck the sand out from under your feet...
Boy, November’s election was a commie victory all the way around.
Blacks obviously love Castro, which is why the “Congressional Black Caucus” set off to worship at Castro’s feet just prior to this disgusting announcement. Bambi has already embraced Castro. There’s no left-wing dictator who is too awful for Bambi.
The strange thing is that Fidel and Raul Castro are of European and Lebanese descent - they have no black or indigenous (Indian) blood - and Che Guevara actually hated blacks and regarded them as lazy and useless. But somehow American blacks seem to regard them as absolutely too cool.
The embargo has absolutely no effect and is purely symbolic. Cuba has nothing to sell. I guess there might be an uptick in sex tourism . Cuba’s main drawing card for European tourism is the fact that it has 12 and 13 yr old prostitutes (male as well as female).
But there’s no bargaining chip because the left has known since the day Barry was fraudulently elected that this was going to happen, and it was a question of sooner or later. Barry is trying to do everything as fast as possible, before Americans wake up, so sooner was obviously the answer.
It’s been the potential for a bargaining chip for 50 years...it obviously has been completely ineffective. I think opening up the Cuban market will have the same impact as opening up the Soviet union did to the West. It will ultimately lead to its collapse.
“The strange thing is that Fidel and Raul Castro are of European and Lebanese descent”
If you smoke them for enjoyment, the taxes will be astronomical.
If you smoke them to stimulate the commie Cuban economy, your cigars will be federally subsidized.
This will make Cuba a wonderful place to launder money, which I am sure has not escaped the alleged Obama Administration.
“We’re bigger than US Steel.”
Let me translate Obama,
” VIVA LA REVOLUCION !!! “
I forgot to mention huge shipments of free food. Cuba currently imports about 80% of its food because farms in Cuba are operating in the Stone Age. So U.S. taxpayers will have another burden.
Where’s the verse about raping 70 year old women and 7 year old girls?
I am shocked how quickly he is moving. Shouldnt be though- people tend to get full of themselves when they have near total control.
obama needs a new playground.

Barack Obama, from Dreams from My Father, Three Rivers Press, New York, Revised Edition, 2004, ISBN 1-4000-8277-3, p. 76-7:
"But by the time I met Frank [Frank Marshall Davis] he must have been pushing eighty, with a big, dewlapped face and an ill-kempt gray Afro that made him look like an old, shaggy-maned lion. He would read us his poetry whenever we stopped by his house, sharing whiskey with Gramps out of an emptied jelly jar."

Obamas Red Mentor Was a Pervert
AIM Column | By Cliff Kincaid | August 24, 2008
Clearly, this is liberal pro-Obama media bias by omission.
Covering a sensitive and explosive subject that has been off-limits for the major U.S. media, the London Daily Telegraph is now claiming that Communist Frank Marshall Davis was a strong influence over a young Barack Obama for nine years of his life, rather than just four, and was a sex pervert and pothead. The Telegraph article alleges that Davis was a bisexual engaged in sordid sexual activities and had repeated sexual encounters with a 13-year-old girl. ..."
