A Month in the Life of George W Bush (news and photos): April 2009
www.yahoo.com/news www.georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/ ^ | 1st April 2009 | Snugs

As we enter April 2009 we are being bombarded by the media hyping up the first 100 days of President Obama I thought it would be nice to look back at the first 100 days of George W Bush Presidency.

The White House Website for the Bush Administration had a photo essay for the first 100 days which I am sure will provoke fond memories.

At the weekend I will post photos covering the first 2 weeks of April 2001 which once again I am sure will make us all feel nostalgic for the President we supported, respected and trusted to keep us safe for the last 8 years. Later this month I will post photos from the second half of Aril 2001 plus a selection of other photos that I am sure will be breath of fresh air and produce fond memories.

First of all before the photos I will post the text of remarks that George W Bush made at a Congressional Luncheon marking the first 100 days of the Bush Adminstration - ah those were the days.

I will also post some photos I have found of the Bush family for March 2009 including some of the former First Lady.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

I am so grateful to all of those that prayed for him and supported me and as you say he is such an answer to prayers.

Laura Bush has natural style and grace that Mrs O can never hope to emulate.

It's good to know that kind of stuff!

The Yorkshire pudding that you cooked looks like a large yeast roll or biscuit (not a "cookie" type, but a breakfast type biscuit that we eat here...like these that I made for Thanksgiving morning....

We eat those with syrup (I like maple syrup), gravy, fruit jellies or honey.

Christmas Pudding and Yorkshire Pudding are not the same thing, are they? I thought Christmas Pudding was a fruit laced sweet pudding, while Yorkshire was more of a savory dish. What were those four things that looked like little loaves on the baking dish?

Glad your Dad enjoyed his belated Christmas Feast!

A small child looks up skeptically toward the PBS character Noddy,

ROTFL! I'd never heard of Noddy before, but the look on that child's face is just priceless!!

I wonder who illustrates those drawings for each year’s Easter festivities? They always include the pets! It’s cute!

Noddy is a very old British character written by probably the most milighed children's author Enid Blyton, she wrote hundreds of children's books from Noddy for under 5s to mystery/school novels for kids up to about 11 or 12.

There is a noddy website, here is the link

http://www.noddy.com/

There is a UK and USA section to the website amongst other countries.

BUSH REUNION WILL HAVE MUCH TO CELEBRATE
Monday, April 13, 2009 8:50 AM
By: Ronald Kessler

Top Bush administration officials will be holding a reunion with the former president at his home in Dallas Monday night to map plans for the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

In contrast to President Obama, who takes swipes at Bush at every turn, they will have much to be proud of.

For more than seven years, Bush kept us safe after the 9/11 attacks. He liberated 50 million people and took down a dictator who killed 300,000 people.

I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed this thread this evening. Got all sentimental looking at the wonderful pictures of President Bush and Laura and all those Easter egg events at the White House.

The media today acted as if this was the first year we have had one. I’ve never seen so much gushing and child-like behavior coming from them today. Its as if this is the very best ever.....I almost have to take Pepto-Bismol..LOL!

Thanks, snugs.

Our pancakes are very flat and cooked in a skillet on top
of the stove. Your Yorkshire puddng looks baked. I hope I
get to go to England some day and have some!...maybe even
with you! :D

Correct pancakes are flat but if you use all purpose flour without any rising agent and have the mixture slightly thinner, and half milk half water and cook in the oven in hot oil the mixture will rise like this.

Another traditional dish of ours made with this batter is toad in the hole which is a large Yorkshire pudding in a batter pan or oblong casserole dish with sausages.
