Officials say GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner will step down immediately at request of the White House.
Which happened when GM received TARP money last year.
This should be the duty of the board of directors and shareholders to decide who to hire and who to fire.
In an independent business which is a going concern, sure. That description no longer applies to GM, however.
By what right does the President of the United States have a right to decide who works at any corporation? Where is that in the Constitution?
It's not an acceptable outcome by any stretch of the imagination, there's no argument. But it's less offensive than the government simply throwing cash at a failing business without taking any oversight responsibility or imposing any accountability whatsoever.
One of my cars’ has a key that still has the original logo on it. :P
Sad part is that that 1987 XJ6 with ~250K on it is more reliable than the 2009 Silverado my neighbor just bought. The Chebby’s been back in the shop six times in four months. The Jag just keeps rolling.
Market will tank on Monday, or worse.
Got off the phone with my gnomes....
One a let go Auto guy, sharp NRA/contitutionalist. This is not Legal, And as he notes, their is no talent to fill the Job Chrysler couldn't get them over a year ago.
The other gnome could see both sides. He noted, be careful what you wish for, Ya ding dong the witch may be dead, but who is going to run it now? What struck him was Waggoner has been the steady lineman, not the star, but he was concerned with his lack of urgency.
Probably some union Sympathizer so it can turn into France Renault and Every Budget year they pump in money!! hahah
sacrame bleu
Just as you have the right to buy whatever you wish, I have the right to mock you. Thank you for respecting that right.
I am serious!
Just because YOU THINK no one is buying cars doesn’t mean it’s true. I know many people who are buying cars, just not GM cars!
Wagoner? He can always go back to singing country!
So...does the DOW tank tomorrow...?
I think I woulda bailed without an invitation - the union won’t budge and he has a deadline coming.
Now the question is, which O man chum will take the helm for the final plunge to the bottom?
A lack of US based manufacturing is one of the main reasons we are in this mess. It’s all part and parcel of the movement to displace the wealth of the western world and consolidate it into the hands of those wish our demise.
All of their “green” crap and the sky is falling crap is just subterfuge for their true purpose.
Something happened. Like somebody refused to continue to play ball.
0bama wants to start his own "green car" company. Good Luck with that.
Give it up truthguy. The ankle biters harassing you know more about Oprah than they do of GM.
Among other things, we build custom or reproduction wiring harnesses for Jaguars. Recently, I got a request to make a wiring harness with chartreuse sheathing. I thought it was a stupid request, but you know what?
I made up a harness with chartreuse sheathing, asked if they also wanted some chartreuse hold down clips, and offered the services of my powdercoater if they needed metal parts coated the same color. They happily paid the custom order fees and everyone went home happy.
GM still hasn’t figured this out.
The rich rule over the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22-7.
Keep in mind, however, its not Obama's money.
Is Franklin Raines looking for a job? Or maybe Barney Frank can exercise his leadership skills at GM? If only!
