Make sure to check out our ongoing thread for updates about the Regional Convention being held in Orlando on April 25. The convention will be at the spectacular Gaylord Palms hotel and we've gotten a group rate of just $99/night on guest rooms. Updated information will be posted Monday on how to make your reservations.
RG, Convention Chair
Ditto that! bttt
The Dems had a convention at our hotel last week.
The first photo shows the tentacles of big government striking out at shocked Democrat swimmers trying in vain to escape its grasp.
Photo #2 was snapped at the Democrat's pool party at the hotel the next day. The local media estimated the number of participants at the party to be a hundred or more swimmers.
The third photo shows the party faithful enjoying themselves at the Democrat convention's poolside banquet the same night. The Orlando Sentinel estimated the number of wealthy diners seated at the chic white satin-covered tables at two hundred or more.
Local reporters said they probably would not cover the conservative Free Republic convention to be held on April 25.
Leni
Thanks for the accurate report that the Orlando Sentinel missed! :)

“Reserve forthright, let’s fight the fight
We’ll see ya there on Friday (?) night”
You betcha, Leni! Love that “Bye,bye Barack”!
Sure looking forward to meeting lots of Florida Freepers! :)
Lol. Not sure how sweet I am, but sure am looking forward to seeing all the beautiful faces I met at the Orlando Tea Party again and of course meeting all the new ones!
The convention committee is working hard behind the scenes to put the agenda together for the morning and afternoon sessions.
Two speakers are nailed down (ouch!)....and we're waiting for their bios which we'll post as soon as they're received. I've heard tell they will join up together to put on a little "skit" on one of our favorite subjects, the Media (hiss, boo).
In plenty of time prior to the event we'll post driving instructions to the hotel. We'll even post a map in living color showing the hotel and grounds which depicts where everything is.....restaurants, meeting room, pool, fantastic attractions, live alligators......
We'll be meeting in the Convention Center area....the Sarasota Room to be precise. More on this later.
Because the hotel is massive and if you have trouble walking a distance, you may want to ask for a room either near the Convention Center (at the rear end of the hotel) or the "St. Augustine" area near the front of the hotel right behind the front lobby. The handicapped rooms are here, also.
Don't be afraid to tell the reservationist-ette what you want. This hotel is most accomodating.
I'm staying in St. Augustine as I want to be near the lobby to meet and greet freepers checking in if I happen to be there....near the alligators.....at such times. I also want my room to be close to the front desk and the staff who will be very helpful with information to committee members and guests. Or you may want to be closer to the convention area. Bring comfortable shoes, LOL.
Dress all day long is "warm-weather casual", dinner is "freeper-casual-looking-nice"....if you get my drift.
(....continued in next post).....

Folks, there's no registration fee to cover expenses for this convention as is done in most events of this nature. There are some necessary peripheral costs in planning for and carrying out the mechanics for this gathering of Eagles.
We're asking for some donations so that the dedicated freeper volunteers don't have to eat the costs. Some good-hearted freepers have already donated. We're so appreciative.
The screen names of donors who are helping make this convention a success are being listed on the profile page of the convention Chair, "Roos_Girl". All expenses will also be listed post-convention.
As one example, we want to have hot coffee, tea and some energizing doughnuts or breakfasty snacks, along with the necessary cream, sugar, napkins, paper plates and cups, etc. These will be available on a table at the beginning of the early morning meeting which will start with a get-to-know-you "meet and greet hour". Great warmer-upper for freeper fellowship!
This beverage service has to be ordered from the hotel....and it isn't free, believe me. There are and will be some other expenses such as name tag-type things, perhaps some unforseen contingencies, etc.. but rest assured, we're running a lean, mean conservative convention machine.
Won't you lend a hand? Make your donation out to our Chair, "Marci Chandler, P.O.Box 3731, Orlando, Florida 32802-3731".
Maybe you can't come to the event, but might like to throw a few bucks into the pot to help with its success. Anything left after expenses will be donated to Free Republic in the name of all the donors. Their screen names will be posted on the open forum with the kudos they deserve and with our thanks.
That's all for now......but wait!!!!.....
There's a registration surprise in store for those contemplating taking a room at this incredible hotel.
It'll be announced first thing tomorrow so stay tuned.
So don't get far from this thread.....I assume you have it bookmarked in your "favorites".
Tune in tomorrow!
In the meantime, keep your comments coming into this thread!

Love the updates, Leni! Making a ping to another freeper friend.
Just think! A great vacation weekend in the best of company at a beautiful hotel! I can’t wait!
Attenshun, Freepers in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas! The FR Southeastern Regional Convention is delighted to announce a special drawing!
The screen names of freepers already registered for a hotel room plus the next twenty room reservation signer-uppers will be entered into the drawing hat for a dandy little prize to be presented during a convention meeting on the 25th.
The prize will not be a new car, LOL, but it will be a fun little keepsake from this grand freeper event. We guarantee you'll love it!
Names will be numbered, the numbers sent blind to our Conventioneer-in-Chief, Jim Robinson, and he'll pick the winning number from the cyber hat. Thanks, Jim.
Registrants are being posted as they come in on Chair "Roos_Girl" profile page. Additional group of twenty will start right after "My Favorite Headache" name on this list. Winning name will be posted on this thread prior to the convention. One screen name per room will be entered. Committee members not eligible.
See post # 28 for phone number of hotel and details of registration. Other tidbits about this fabulous convention site scattered throughout this thread.
PICK UP THAT PHONE RIGHT NOW, GET REGISTERED AND BE OUR LUCKY WINNER!
After you're registered, notify Roos_Girl on this thread that your mission is accomplished so that she can add your name to the list of hotel registrants.

A post was made here: http://brevardteaparty.com/
About the Freeper gathering...April 15th might be a good day to recruit for FR as well at these Tea Parties.
I don't know who's going to the Brevard Tea Party on the 15th, but a lot of freepers read this convention thread.....so if you're going there, Florida peeples, do your freepin' thing while you're there.
Spread the FR gospel, hallelujah!
Leni/MinuteGal
Regester, uh, quick.....like, NOW, man!
Uhm, c'mon, dude, you too can be a WINNER......like me, duh....

PING TO POST #94!
Thanks for helping to spread the word! It is going to be a convention too good to miss! :)
Great idea! Hubby and I attended the Clearwater Tea Party this morning from 10-2PM. Was great fun and saw Freeper 4integrity there too!
I believe there were close to 200 folks there as folks were coming and going. We had tons of folks honking in support as they went by, and the signs were great as usual! Didn't see any local TV station presence but there were a few folks filming.
Now it is on to the Tampa Tea Party on the 15th! And yes, I would like them to put my tax bill on Timmy's tab!
