Has a schedule or itinerary been posted? As I am self employed and teach Sunday School, I need to arrange my week in advance to attend.

Hey, hey.....all freepers in the Florida nether regions down to the Keys....and in the great Panhandle region!

Our convention is in a very central location, easily reached by good superhighways. We certainly hope to see many members of the Northern and Southern Florida chapters drive to Orlando for this rare event in FR life.

Our hotel is a destination in itself, unique and entertaining. Meeting up with familiar screen names that now have faces is great fun and kinda like meeting kinfolk you've never seen before.

Yes, it's a drive, but organizing for liberty means never flagging or ignoring the Paul Revere call to action.

It's been a long, depressing year. Some R & R with fellow freepers for a couple days in unusually fascinating surroundings will re-invigorate you politically, lift your morale to dizzying heights, and allow you to feed salty little libs to the hotel's alligators.

Make a quick decision now, you won't regret it, believe me.....and join those who are already signed up and coming from many miles away.

Florida freepers from near and far, the colonists are gathering.....join FR's own Tea Party!

One if by I-10, two if by I-95.........

I plan on attending Saturday, but not staying in the hotel as I don't live far. I am trying to talk my 15 year old daughter in attending with me, but as of right now, I will fly solo.

As a side note, I just spoke with the information operator regarding a check room for motorcycle helmets and luggage such as saddle bags/tank bags, etc... I was informed that there are no specific "coat check" style areas, however, the bell stand would keep them during the conference. I would prefer to keep them in a FReeper's room if anyone would care to volunteer.

Also, is there going to be wireless for laptops at the conference?

Thanks,
DocRock

I’m sure someone won’t mind storing your things in their room during the conference.

There is not wireless available in the conference room, but I believe areas of the hotel have WiFi available.

There is a fish pond in the lobby where they have Koi Fish

...which just look like variegated gold fish to me. ;-/ However, do NOT bring your fishing pole! ...just for looking! :-D

The hotel's web site states:

"All rooms have wireless high speed internet access as well as a desktop computer free of charge. All rooms have safes (a laptop can fit in) with laptop charging ability."

"Access" probably means there's a charge somewhere. I'll see what I can find out.

Regards your query of laptops in the rooms:
Our rooms all have an internet-connected computer on premises, paid for in the 'resort fee' applied to our FR rooms.

For those who wish to bring a laptop, convention relations tells me that there is a wireless connection working in all the rooms... however, they were not completely clear on this latter point. [?]

Below is a pic of the Convention Center entrance:

This pic is taken from the 'Bridge' coming from the lobby area ... and the Market Square promenade.

To find the Sarasota Room and the meeting, enter the Center, bear to the right to the up-escalator to the Ballroom Level, and look for signs to the meeting room. [see post #245 for more details].

The H2O Sports Bar and Grille are below the 'Bridge', as is the Piazza and the pool areas... stair to right of Convention Center entrance.

I was informed on the phone that it was an additional charge to have wireless in the convention room.

That’s correct. That’s why we won’t have it there. I didn’t inquire as to the price, but if it’s like everything else it’s out of our budget. :)

Boiled down, does this mean that a freeper with his own lap top will be able to bring up FR if he's in his own room for no fee?

The contest to identify the prize we're giving out as a room registration promotion ends in about an hour and a half.

So if you want to make a last-minute stab at it do it now! Freepmail your stab to "MinuteGal".

If there is a winner, which doesn't look too promising at the moment, LOL, it'll be announced early evening.

The clues to help you identify the prize are listed on post #247. Good luck and stay tuned here.

Closing at 6 PM will be entries for our room registration prize. If you are a room holder, a designated number corresponding to your screen name will be sent to Jim Robinson who will draw a lucky number out of a cyber hat. You only have an hour left.

Remember, aside from the time limit on this drawing, you can STILL REGISTER for the convention this entire week for the same low room rate. However, the hotel informs us that room availability comes into play now because of the approaching weekend, so be forewarned.

If you ARE registered and you haven't notified Roos_Girl of this fact, do it NOW. You must post it on THIS THREAD. You will then be eligible for the prize.

The screen name of the winner will be posted after Jim does his designated gig for us.

So keep watching for the name of the lucky guy or doll freeper who will win the new car....oops, a little prize the size of a bread box.

Good luck to all.
