He’s supposed to have an office of protocol to do this stuff for him.

This is embarrassing.

You're right - downright shameful...

The British press has identified the Marine One toy the Cheapskate In Chief gave the British Prime Minister's children and noted that it was available on Amazon for $15.00. Turns out it's only $4.11 on Amazon.

Yep, the Obamas serve Wagyu steak to the other Washington Mandarins.

But give DVDs and cheap toys to a visiting head of state from probably our most close and vital ally.

I imagine Sarah Palin knows how to entertain dignitaries far better than this.

In this case, Obama managed to be even more of a lame-ass than Jimmy Carter.

The Obamas don’t give their own children birthday or Christmas gifts. Fifteen dollars was generous for them.

"Bust of Churchill Returned by Obama
"After the September 11th attacks our British allies loaned President George Bush
a bust of one of the greatest Britons the world has ever known, Sir Winston Churchill.
It was a gesture to show their support for the United States in one of its darkest hours.
The bust sat prominently in the Oval Office for the balance of President Bush’s tenure there,
and once President Obama took office, the British offered him the opportunity to keep it for the length of his term.
His response was cold and most likely sent tremors through the British diplomatic community."
....
"Diplomatically this is a faux pax that only an unseasoned politician could make.
The British have stood by our side as strong allies for decades and we need to maintain that relationship,
especially in a world that is becoming increasingly dangerous (See Is Nuclear Weakness on the Horizon)
If he did not want to look at it in the oval office he could have displayed it elsewhere in the White House
and not slapped the British in the face in such a blatant disregard of political etiquette."

Obama IS what he is - anyone willing to check what was posted on FR, Little Green Footballs, etc. would have known what behavior Obama would demonstrate when in the Oval Office.

Our Bad - not his. We voted him in. Now we get what we voted for.

Humbuggery!

Not sure, but executive branch gift-giving limits are pretty hard-over law.

I think it is somewhere around $25 max if given to an individual.

If it is a more expensive gift, I think the law allows that but the gift is given to the organization, not the person.

So, the gifts were to children, not organization (or “head of state”), therefore they are limited by the law.

Now, there are exemptions and waivers that could have been exercised but the amateurs in charge are dolts.

You don’t make this kind of insult accidentally or through miscalculation.

With a staff of hundreds, reference manuals on protocol, conduct and every other subject, experienced protocol advisors at your fingertips and a history of 232 years to look back on, a monumental snub like the Obamas made can only occur through intent and concious effort to find just the right touch to create the maximum insult.

Even at the very last minute the White House staff could come up with far superior gifts than these two snotty grifters handed out.

It was an embarrassment to see them soil the entrance to the White House and they will continue to embarrass us until they are sent back to the racist thugs and commies they pal with in Chicago.

You misjudge Obama.

OK, maybe he COULD have gotten this toy for <$5 at Amazon. But our President almost certainly paid...$5,000 for it.

Obama never spends without adding at least 3 Zeroes on the end. Unless, of course, it is HIS money!

Insult to injury. Obama put the ax on the deal with the UK company that was schedule to make Marine One helicopters.
