There in language in Porkulus allowing the state legislatures to override those pesky governors.. I believe they have 45 days, and it’s a simple majority.

The Congress of the United States cannot override the republican forms of government in the States through "language". The Constitution of each State lays out what the state legislature can and cannot do in regards to that state's executive branch. Congress cannot void State constitutions....or make Governor's powerless in their own state by legislative language.....at least legally.

“...betting that my Texas Gov will reject it.”

Bzzzzzzzzzz. Wrongo buckeroo. Our Governor Perry already said he is taking the 17 billion. But he will put it strictly into infrastructure projects. Which means more construction on I35 and superhighways between Odessa and El Paso.

Nice guess, but things would have to be very interesting for Oklahoma to be on this list. We have a Dem governor.

"Wrongo buckeroo"

Not so fast. The link above certainly doesn't validate either one of us. Time will tell.

betting that my Texas Gov will reject it.

I bet he accepts it. He’s a RINO that’s trying to be conservative now that he has some competition, but I don’t think he’s conservative enough to reject it.

You misread the part about Crist. He's got both hands out and his pants around his ankles for the stimulus:

While Jindal, Palin, Mississippi's Haley Barbour, Texas' Rick Perry and Mark Sanford have said they wouldn't take stimulus money -- Perry and Sanford have since backed down slightly on that -- Crist has taken the opposite tack. California’s Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vermont’s Jim Douglas have also expressed support for it. Schwarzenegger even unabashedly wrote a letter to Obama in early January lobbying him for a "substantial federal stimulus program," as his state is facing a near-budget crisis.

Crist -- the moderate Floridian -- went so far in his support of the bill as to introduce President Obama at a Ft. Myers, Fla., event where he was stumping for the stimulus. That prompted a sharp rebuke from Sanford, who doubles as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.

...but don't' assume that state legislatures will accept it either...

in a lot of states the legislators are more conservative than the governor (here in Kansas for example)

I believe it would be the 10th Amendment.

Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

No way. Crist practically made out with Obama on the stage down in Flordia talking about what a great deal this was.

Respectfully, can you provide links. There is nothing I find that says that Crist is not accepting the money; and nothing that seems to substantiate that 6-8 governors are not taking it. Maybe I missed it. Thanks.

Vin
