Unless the state legislatures have more fortitude than most, it’s a symbolic protest. Pelosi made provisions to go around the Govs if needed:

Not only does my governor have his hand out, he has pulled down his pants to facilitate the “stimulus”
I've heard this, too.
Can anyone speak to the constitutionality of the Feds doing an end run around the state governors, while dictating the terms of how state legislatures should do this? This seems like an instant Supreme Court case.
HEY OBOZO, MUST BE A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING, WE ALL DON’T JUST BOW WHEN YOU SPEAK
I see nothing about this at the link you provided.
Who are the eight Governors?
My vote for Perry in '06 is one of the two votes I have regretted in my life. The other was for Carter in '76.
Still don't regret my vote for McGovern in '72, though. I was only 18, and Nixon won in a landslide, so it didn't matter.
It wasn't a total waste, though. I was able to vote against Pete Stark. He was a pompous jerk back then.
Good news! Sadly, it appears that only the Republican governors read the small print.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that he will decline stimulus money specifically targeted at expanding state unemployment insurance coverage, becoming the first state executive to officially refuse any part of the federal governments payout to states.
In a statement, Jindal, who is slated to give the Republican response to President Barack Obamas message to Congress on Tuesday, expressed concern that expanding unemployment insurance coverage would lead to increased unemployment insurance taxes later on.
The federal money in this bill will run out in less than three years for this benefit and our businesses would then be stuck paying the bill, Jindal said. We must be careful and thoughtful as we examine all the strings attached to the funding in this package. We cannot grow government in an unsustainable way.

Said the other day he considered but wouldn’t. Very odd story since the other day everyone basically said yeah, we thought about it but won’t reject the cash.
Let me guess:
ALASKA
Louisiana
Mississippi
Idaho
Oklahoma
S Carolina?
Arkansas?
Texas?
He is running for re-election.
If Rick Perry is among them, he’ll win my vote.

Don’t worry about PR....these Govs will take the money.
Unfortunately, because they worry about PR more than us, they are more afraid of the MSM than us.
I think Pelosi doesn’t have the power to do an end run and force Alaska to take the stimulus, this will probably end up in SCOTUS.
Lets pray it is!
Jindal is one of them.....rejecting unemployment cash since that would lead to major problems having to change the state’s law on the program.
I thought that I heard there was a provision in the bill that if a Gov rejects it, then a congressman can accept it for his district.
