SURPRISE! Dems Break Promise: Stimulus Bill to Floor Friday
Human Events ^ | 02/12/2009 | Connie Hair

In a press conference Thursday, the House Republican leadership spoke candidly about being kept out of the House-Senate conference on the Obama-Pelosi-Reid so-called “economic stimulus” bill. They confirmed they had not yet seen the text of the bill as of 4 p.m.

<SNIP> The fact that the Demos have now broken their promise to have the public able to see the bill for 48 hours may drive more Dems into the Republican camp.

“[I] don’t know, ‘cause they haven’t seen the bill either,” Boehner said.

“The American people have a right to know what’s in this bill,” Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind) told HUMAN EVENTS after the press conference. “Every member of Congress -- Republicans and Democrats -- voted to post this bill on the internet for 48 hours, 48 hours ago. We’ll see if the Democrats keep their word.”

Get to it, again!!!

On EVERY bill, there is ALWAYS a time when they have to ask if ANYONE wants a reading of the bill. That's standard parlimentary procedure on every bill that's ever gone through the House.

So 100 Republicans should say YES. It's at least a 600 page bill. It would take 5 to as much as 10 hours to read the ugly thing. Then do it all over again in the Senate.

As long as the Dims changed the rules of the House, just so they can kick the Republicans around even more than under the OLD rules of the House, they should have EVERY BILL THAT COMES THROUGH THERE READ ALOUD. AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

They are such useless DWEEBS!!!!

Hitler should have had it so good. Euthanasia to kill off the elderly so the Social Security system is less burdened! And, Congress will never have to vote to kill them. It will be done by the HHS Secretary who is just following orders. The lives of America’s elderly will soon be worthless, just like their 401(k)s! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I think the aides are part of the problem. To get to a congressperson you have to go through their aides.

I have no clue. I don’t think anyone else does either short 50 million people going to DC and camping out there.

Remember Dan's bake sale? We need something like that.

It would be really funny to do it at Woodstock. But, it needs to be in a conservative state so the revenue doesn't go to these rats.

It would need to make the coronation of the One look tiny.

I'm thinking tax revolt. Everyone who pays quarterlies stop sending them. Plan on paying penalty april 15, 2010. My guess is they would pass legislation immediately making the penalty severe.

It looks like they are going to ram it through without letting the Congress see it.

How can anyone vote on a bill they havent seen. Republicans should just walk out and leave them with no Quorum.

Quorum bump!

There is a post on another thread that the three turncoats didn’t want to be the deciding vote ..and they would be if Kennedy doesn’t vote. Anyone else see that quote from them?

<<Hi RummyChick—can you bring me up to speed on this? Why wouldn’t KY vote?

I’d contribute more than a few dollars to see it happen on a very large scale.

U.S. Rep. Anh “Joseph” Cao, R-New Orleans, said Wednesday he is likely to vote for the economic stimulus bill when it comes to a vote, probably today or Friday, even if he is the only Republican member of the House to do so.

“I’m voting along what my conscience dictates and the needs of the 2nd Congressional District dictate, even if I were to be the only member of the GOP to vote for the stimulus package, “ he said.

Cao took William Jefferson's seat. Read his background. He was a refugee from Vietnam. His father spent 7 years in a reeducation camp after the fall of South Vietnam. He knows what a gift he's been given becoming an American citizen. He should be ashamed of himself.

There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free--if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending--if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained--we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us!

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength but irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us.

Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.

Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery!

- Patrick Henry, March 23, 1775

In a court of law documents have to be presented in a forthright manner. What makes the Democratic Congress and the Obama myth sitting in the Oval office above the law? How could anyone in good conscience vote for this bill when they have no idea what is in it and the scope of it is beyond anything that any court of law in this country has ever dealt with?
The vote tomorrow is a vote against the rule of law and a vote against our Constitution.
