I'm thinking tax revolt. Everyone who pays quarterlies stop sending them. Plan on paying penalty april 15, 2010. My guess is they would pass legislation immediately making the penalty severe.
I've been thinking that perhaps general strikes are a better way. Call it "Tax Free Friday." Workers take a day of unpaid "medical" leave (due to the fact they are sick of paying taxes). Small businesses close one day a week. Income and payroll tax collections go down by 20% within a month. Economic activity is reduced by that much as well.
We're already in a recession that's getting deeper. The economic harm will come whether we do it now to make the statement, or just sit back and wait.
