GREGG WITHDRAWS NOMINATION FOR COMMERCE SEC
Thu Feb 12 2009 16:18:14 ET

For Immediate Release:
Thursday, February 12, 2009

Senator Gregg Statement on His Withdrawal for Consideration of U.S. Commerce Secretary

Sen. Gregg stated, “I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

“However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

“Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.

“I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.

“As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President´s proposals. This will certainly be a goal of mine.

“Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period. In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.

“As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.”

I think you’ve nailed it. Gregg showed questionable judgment in accepting the post to begin with. Obama and his thugs thought Gregg would be an easy roll, and he might have been. They knew all along they were grabbing the Census process — it’s how they’ll control the 2010 election and beyond. But Gregg couldn’t stomach the public humiliation. Rahm probably told him to either swallow it or get out. The Obama team is vicious, crafty, sneaky, and focused on their goal — remaking the USA into their version of a socialist utopia. The stimulus bill is the Trojan Horse.

Time for Americans to be bold like lions. Our country hangs in the balance.

I suspect Hillary is sitting there quite happily inflicting her own damage on him from the inside, i also suspect she is building up a huge rival base, the internal Dem civil war when it comes will be apocolyptic.

Dont think for a minute Hillary is sitting there not planning her next move.

Tsk. Obama’s “bi-partisnaship” image takes yet another hit. Re-stacks the GOP vote in the Senate...though his reliability remains questionable...and as a nice parting shot mentions the census power grab. LOL

Hillary and Obama, Its like Chess, The Black King is in in his castle protected by the fodder rooks, however the white Queen is sitting not far way, ready to strike with her knights and take him out in a Checkmate.

Should be fun to watch when she gets ready to strike.

"However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me."

Thank you, Senator Gregg. That's the honorable step when there are such irresolvable issues, and I applaud you taking it.

I’m surprised that even a bleeding socialist like Nixon would hire the likes of a left wing loon like Romney. But, then again, as Secretary of HUD, his socialist tendencies probably served him well.

Like father, like son.

Dem pundit on CNN called Gregg irresponsible.

The quick response should then be to question the quality of the White house vetting process.

I would like to remind everybody of Senator Gregg’s wonderful speech he gave in support of our Troops on February 7, 2007. He was magnificent.

Here is the link. It still works!!!

Its a defeat for Obama that makes his regime look even more clumsy and thrown together. Its also Obama’s fault for not making Gregg part of the team. But Gregg is damaged politically back home I am sure.

I’m glad he backed off, but the verbiage that he uses when talking about Obama... for heaven’s sake.

What is it on our side? Their side demonizes our people across the board. People on our side (supposedly) stand up to talk, and it’s rose petals and perfume when talking about members of the left.

I don’t get it.
