Senator Gregg Statement on His Withdrawal for Consideration of U.S. Commerce Secretary
Sen. Gregg stated, I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.
However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.
Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.
I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.
As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President´s proposals. This will certainly be a goal of mine.
Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period. In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.
As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.
No truer words have ever been written. I'm sure he's a nice guy and well meaning, but he really is an embarrassment sometimes.
Thank you Senator Gregg for not throwing your convictions aside! Thank you, thank you!!!!
Thank you! I was hoping somebody would Photoshop that.
Bring it on .... BOOOOOM !!!
One of the things the MSM doesn’t comprehend is the fact that the Census was the reason not only because the White House took it over but for the fact that it is only a “sampling” which will be taken over by Acorn. That will never be admitted on MSM. Acorn is not a word that will come out of their mouths until this thing is passed.
I used to work for politicians. They cut your heart out with a smile on their faces, telling you that you are the best friend they ever had.
Maybe someone should storm CNN headquarters and capture it so we can play Leave it to Beaver reruns 24/7 until America remembers its roots!!!!
!The House of Card’s is falling
Btw, Orly was in Nashville at the NRB Convention. She met with several State and Federal Government Officials including the FBI and US Attorneys.
At the Proclaiming Justice Dinner she met with many more Leaders from across the Nation, including the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court.
But IMHO the highlight of her visit was the 2/10/09 interview with Matthew Hill.

The poor little babies. Waaaah.
Yeah, I don’t remember them going live to President Bush every time he opened his mouth.
Noooooo.....please....not another corrupt, male slut!
What about LaHood? Or did he get shot down for Transportation Sec? I guess I haven’t been paying attention.
OBAMA BURNED: GREGG WITHDRAWS AFTER POLICIES TOO MUCH TO STOMACH
LOL!
Great Drudge headline!
Let me guess. He owes back taxes and he hired an illegal alien back in 1980.
I don’t trust Gregg now for leaving in the first place.
P.S. IF ONLY Colin Powell had had the guts to do the same...
The 3rd man to drop out of the Obama administration before being in it and he’s the only one without a scandal making him do it.
