(sigh)
Time to bend over and grab the Vaseline.
Now there is a surprise.
I think that we should inundate Mike Steele to have these three thrown out into the hinterland, Dems don’t want’em and we don’t need em, or visa versa
Slim, yes, but I didn’t want people to think it is over and give up.. keep calling, keep faxing, keep emailing.
They might as well cross the aisle now.
No one be speaking to their sorry a$$es now.
once upon a time, I remember Reagan quoting someone saying that regardless of the political make-up of Congress, when the people demand something, they will act.
Unfortunately, in Reagan’s day, Americans were much more well educated and had sustained enough historical examples to learn from mistakes.
People are uneducated about the economy. You have liberals dominating the economic, legal, and political education. What you and I know as simple truths, our liberal friends can’t even begin to comprehend. Unless we fix this education gap, nothing will change.
Do we have the names of (2) Full Spectrum Conservatives serving anywhere in Maine’s Government? What about (1) Full Spectrum Conservative from PA with name recognition to seriously compete in the Phili/Pit suburbs and without having to sell themselves as “moderate”? Anyone?
Thank you two...these guys have to GO...i don’t give a sh#t if the people running against them are hardcore democrats...it would be the same thing if they won...i am so pissed i can’t even think right now...
He should do it right now and do it on live T.V..
I wouldn’t be surprised if they couldn’t even get a Quorum Call tonight. They must still be waiting for Kennedy’s plane to land. If they need him that much it must mean there are some Dems that are leaning to vote NO.
they better be dead meat or the RNC gets NONE of my money
Im pretty sure it takes a simple majority of the members voting. If all 100 vote, thatd be 51.
60 votes for cloture, quorum, debate.
67 votes to break a filibuster, override, or impeachment conviction.
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
Someone posted the Republican Cloakroom number on another thread and they are answering the phone.
Specter already looks like he needs one of those CSI guys to draw a white line around him
He is history, not the good kind either
If only it was that easy...Hannity is reporting that the final bill is around 820 billion...good night...we are so screwed...
LOL!
Paging Olympia Snowe- Coat check please!
I am living in PA and there is no way Specter will win in 2010. If he runs and no other Republican runs in the primary to unseat him, the Democrat is a shoe-in!!! I can no longer hold my nose and vote for this clown. I called his office today and asked that he not vote for this bill. I will vote for my first Democrat since 1992. I would rather get screwed by a Democrat then get screwed by one of my own party!
Just sent a flamin email to Snowe.
Don't forget McCain. He's up in 2010 too.
Either he gets an enema and possibly a brain transplant...or he must go too.
Because, after Porkulus Maximus is allowed to feed on live U.S. taxpayers, mark my words, McCain and Graham will return to their pre-determined agenda of carbon credits, health care "reform" with Ted Kennedy, amnesty for illegal aliens, and only God knows what else.
Isn’t this taking a bit too long?
The Senate may not vote on a bill until the debate is finished. It used to be where that someone would stand on the floor of the Senate for hours and read a phone book or something like that.
That action is still an available course of action by today’s Senators.
But about 90 years ago the Senate changed that. Not only did debate have to end, but sixty senators had to agree that it had ended. This changed the Congress.
By failing to show up for work, the Senators could block the bill on any legislation. The Democrats have used this more than the Republicans in blocking Bush’s judicial nominations.
See “cloture” in wikipedia. They did a rather fair job in describing it.
So, you have two votes:
1) Stop debate and bring the bill to a vote
2) Vote on the bill’s passage
