Correlation demonstrated between cosmic rays and temperature of the stratosphere

This offers renewed hope for Svensmark’s theory of cosmic ray modulation of earth’s cloud cover. Here is an interesting correlation published just yesterday in GRL.

Cosmic rays detected deep underground reveal secrets of the upper atmosphere

Watch the video animation here (MPEG video will play in your media player)

Published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters and led by scientists from the UK’s National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), this remarkable study shows how the number of high-energy cosmic-rays reaching a detector deep underground, closely matches temperature measurements in the upper atmosphere (known as the stratosphere). For the first time, scientists have shown how this relationship can be used to identify weather events that occur very suddenly in the stratosphere during the Northern Hemisphere winter. These events can have a significant effect on the severity of winters we experience, and also on the amount of ozone over the poles - being able to identify them and understand their frequency is crucial for informing our current climate and weather-forecasting models to improve predictions...

Good to know that this information is being spread. Now folks can begin to understand just what a bill of goods the MSM is trying to sell them about human caused Global Warming.

“and also on the amount of ozone over the poles”

Wait. You mean it wasn’t the Chloro Fluoro Carbons after all?

You mean that Enviro-Nazis lie?

Who knew?

BS! Sunspots, cosmic rays, bunk. That is all too simple.

It is the ZERO percent CO2 that is causing all this heating!

382 PPM = 0.0382% CO2 rounded = ZERO

Svensmark’s theory of cosmic ray modulation of earth’s cloud cover Svensmark is a true scientist. He offered up himself for interrogatory in Steve McIntyre's Climate Audit where continuously made clear his having drawn no conclusion, was without an agenda, aside from going where the evidence took him. His website is excellent, and he's been a climatologist, writing scholarly papers for many, many years.

I couldn't be more pleased to see his name being mentioned in so many articles lately because his paper on the method used by he and his colleagues to trace the possible in fall of cosmic rays to low cloud development, particularly during Solar Minimum (when the Sun's magnetic field weakens and allows for as much as a 50 percent increase in the occurrence of cosmic rays in the inner solar system) was ground breaking. Though he, again, drew no conclusion, and even was clear about the difficulties of doing a census of low clouds in the tropics, the same Green Party claptrap that evokes Svalmark and ignores his remmmainh pfqualification and quotes some unnamed tenured button sorter without attribution and invariably adding the "but most scientists disagree," etc. Svalmark just chuckles. He is remarkable. He is the exception to the part of former New Mexico Senator Harrison Schmitt's resignation from the Planetary Society in October, when he wrote, "TPS Statement * accelerating research into global climate change through more comprehensive Earth observations "---As a geologist, I love Earth observations. But, it is ridiculous to tie this objective to a "consensus" that humans are causing global warming when human experience, geologic data and history, and current cooling can argue otherwise. "Consensus", as many have said, merely represents the absence of definitive science. You know as well as I, the "global warming scare" is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making. It has no place in the Society's activities.

It's no coincidence that the other planets in our solar system are heating up .... ok, put on your tinfoil hats and flame me, but ? could this heating up of the other planets and their gravitation fields being effected from the effects of planet X ( actually, not a planet, but, a brown dwarf star ... sister star to our sun ) or as the Bible calls it ( WORMWOOD ) ??

If I’m not mistaken, “Wormwood,” so named for making the waters of the world bitter is “something like a mountain” that impacts the sea, which unless this sea John describes is a metaphor for the world, and is, instead, “the Sea,” than it sounds very much as though “wormwood” is a asteroid, of some particular size, and not a brown dwarf. Also, the evidence for what many still call a Brown Dwarf companion for our Sun has been explained by regular encounters of Earth and Solar System with more populated parts along our galactic orbital path.

Amazing the sheer ignorance of the GoreBull Warmth fan club. No pause whatsoever to entice the thought that the very thing (our sun) that supports all life in the solar system as we are aware of, would have the greatest impact upon Earth's atmospheric and surface temperatures....nahhhhh no deductive reasoning needed here.

One of the stations that measures the cosmic rays posts their data here:

I have little doubt that the severity of our winter (mainly anomalously cold and deep upper lows) is correlated even if it doesn't have much effect on the "global average temperature".
