Caylee Anthony Update: Several Items of Interest Found

The Caylee Anthony case took a dramatic turn yesterday when a child's skeletal remains were found approximately three-tenths of a mile from the home of Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony. Since that time, the remains have been sent off for positive identification and a search warrant has been obtained for the Anthony family home.

Investigators conducting the search of the home have been seen removing enough items to fill up at least three vehicles. The search, which began yesterday evening, continued until early this morning.

A sheriff's deputy has now been posted in front of the house to guard what is now being described as a "crime scene" by the sheriff's office. A sheriff's office helicopter is also patrolling the area to ensure that no one attempts to corrupt the crime scene.

Items removed from the Anthony family home include: three vacuum cleaners, two pesticide tanks, a small pillow, seven large paper bags and four boxes of potential evidence.

Kevin BearyDuring an interview with CNN, Orange County sheriff Kevin Beary said that investigators "absolutely" found something of interest while searching the home.

In a separate interview with "The Today Show," Beary said that something found with the child skeletal remains prompted the search.

"We know that there's some clues that came out of the remains found yesterday and that's why we've kind of linked it back to the house. That's why we did everything proper, got a search warrant and secured the premises and searched into the wee hours this morning," Beary said.

Investigators are planning to continue the search later today. They also plan on conducting another search of the area where the child skeletal remains were found.

The remains have since been sent to the FBI crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, where experts are conducting expedited testing to identify them. According to Beary, a positive ID could take up to two weeks.

Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, has filed an emergency motion to ensure that defense experts can be present while the remains are tested. A hearing to rule on that motion has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today.

Crime SceneMeanwhile, a source inside the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office has said that the death penalty that was recently taken off the table would be reconsidered if the remains are proven to be Caylee. It was just one week ago that the state attorney's office announced they would not seek the death penalty against Anthony in the first-degree murder of Caylee.

Events that have transpired in the last 24 hours were set in motion yesterday morning, when an Orange County water meter reader discovered child skeletal remains inside a black plastic garbage bag near Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive in Orlando.

The worker immediately notified police and the area was cordoned off as a crime scene. Sources close to the investigation say that remnants of duct tape were found on both the skull and the trash bag.

Oh waxer1, I am so sorry about your son.
Sometimes I get very matter-of-fact to keep from tearing up (crying) - child abuse always brings me such sadness, I just have to remind myself that our Father in Heaven wraps His loving arms around them as soon as they get Home.
(When this report 1st surfaced, I got home from work and gave my daughter a huge hug and just held her).
But I can imagine that closure of the physical aspect is important.
Oh, poor little Caylee, she just wanted her mommy to love her - that is just so sad........

I think the Anthony family all know what happened to Caylee.

They didn’t at first, but somewhere along the way, maybe through Baez, Casey may have explained to the parents that it was an accident, she got scared and covered it up.

I am really starting to believe more and more that the grandparents have been covering for her.

Casey said in some of those jailhouse visits with her parents that Caylee was close. Very close. Was she trying to tell them where the body was, so one of them could hide it better?

The family seems almost complicit with Casey. Could be they are just delusional.

I guess we might find out very soon.

How many times have they searched the Anthony residence? You’d think they would have removed the vacuum cleaners previously.

There was no husband. She was/is a “good time party girl” — all about the drugs, alcohol and sex. As far as I know, she wasn’t sure who Caylee’s father actually was.

Well, hypothetically let’s imagine the government collapsed tomorrow and we were back in kind of local community mode.

I can tell you this:
NOBODY who lived near me would be punished for a crime UNTIL THEY HAD A FAIR TRIAL! And I would personally FIGHT FOR THAT. We gave up too much to get it!

Sounds old fashioned, I know...

Good point - but cindy’s gravy train of tv appearances is about to stop - odd that she just flew to be on Larry King Wednesday night.

And to think that up until now, I had believed that the mother was covering up a negligent homicide; that Caylee had either drowned, or had died of hyperthermia in a locked SUV.

That her death, though due to criminal neglect, had been accidental.

It now appears that this was not the case, and that a truly hideous willful crime was committed against a helpless child.

To prayers............

Its worth noting we don’t know when the body was placed there. Easily could have been after the immediate area was searched, so don’t be so hard on those that did the looking.

"She refused to name the father."

Probably because she wasn't sure which one-night stand to put the finger on.

So sad. My son heard the update on this on the radio this morning. He knows nothing of this case and said, “Three times this morning they reported skeletal remains of a toddler were found.” :(

I agree, but we've seen that juries can allow a guilty person off - I'm saying that there is enough evidence for us to know, without a doubt, that Casey has knowledge of this child's death - so it won't matter what a jury does, the girl is dangerous and shouldn't be trusted.

So just curious - would you have welcomed OJ into your home since the jury found him not guilty?

Who was it? Judge Roy Bean who once said “We’ll give him a fair trial and then hang him.”..........

within site of the home. so much for all the pros looking...took a meter reader bleeding his lizard to bring the search to a close. bet there are a few red faces in fl today.

it looked like an Amazon rain forest, I watched on the FNC as they hacked out a perimeter with machetes, I mean yeah, you can look in an area, but unless you are willing to agent orange the area, there is a good chance you are going to miss stuff.

OJ???

No, he’s not welcome.

We all know there were problems there. And in a sense, that’s exactly my point.

It’s easy (seems way, way too easy these days) to hear about absolutely horrific crimes. And it’s easy for us to get caught up in the emotion and fervor of what’s happening. And whether we like it or not, sometimes the legal system fails.

And that’s precisely when we have to step back and take a breather.

We can’t let our emotions get so in control that we forget the reasons we try to do things the way we do.

There are purposes for “no double jeopardy” laws. There are reasons we can’t put someone on the stand and start sticking them with a cattle prod before they talk.

And while this case and others like it are very sad and traumatize us, they are NOT as important as the ideals I’m talking about.

regards

"I hope the grandparents rot in jail if they helped their daughter cover up the crime. I would have dragged my daughter into the police station by her hair if she murdered such a precious and innocent little girl."

The day this all came to light, Cindy Anthony DID drag Casey to the police station -- for stealing her car or something in her car, or something. The 911 calls were released.

In watching the horror and sickness that the grandfather is experiencing, I can't imagine that he had anything to do with this. The grandmother is just as delusional as her daughter, and I can't form a firm opinion on her one way or another.

So what is the difference between this case and OJ’s case? Both have evidence supporting the crime - and actually, based on what I have read, I think there is more evidence linking casey to this crime than there was to OJ. You seem to accept that oj was guilty, why defend this pos? I understand the system - I’m not disputing that - I’m saying we can already know she is guilty, just as we did with OJ - so it won’t matter to me what some jury decides.

I always thought Cindy dragged this to the forefront then couldn’t handle where it was all heading.....if somewhere along the line she learned the truth she should have just shut up. Sadly, she was running her mouth up until they found the remains. The father, on the other hand, was a former police officer wasn’t he? He should have known better how to behave.

We can all know she’s guilty?

What?
Remember the Elizabeth Smart case?
Remember JonBenet Ramsey?
Did you have an opinion then?

Yikes! You scare me!!!!!

(btw, I never once defended this Florida mother)
