An American journalist was kidnapped by Taliban militants in the Afghan province of Logar, located 60 kilometres south of the capital Kabul. David Rohde, a journalist working for the US daily The New York Times, was abducted along with his driver and interpreter by a Taliban group known as Siraj Haqqani and has been taken to eastern Afghanistan, sources told Adnkronos International (AKI).

War-torn Afghanistan has seen a surge in kidnappings of foreigners by Taliban militants recently. On Monday, Canadian journalist Mellissa Fung was freed in Kabul after being held in captivity for four weeks by militants.

Prayers up for the family...

Any word on whether this is a parting shot at Bush, or are we allowed to blame Obama for it now?

I’m tempted to feel sorry for him, but then I remembered the latest story in the NYT giving away information about our latest SOF missions against the Taliban.

Something tells me that this guy and those like him do not stop to think about the soldiers that have been killed or injured during the last 8 years as a result of their biased yellow-dog journalism. As far as I am concerned he and the paper he works for have the blood of our soldiers on their hands.

I consider this poetic justice.

They probably are crowning him their tribal chief as thanks for all the work he’s done on their behalf.

Very uplifting to see the upswelling of patriotism and compassion as an American ends up in the hands of the jihadis.

How sorry would you be if it were John Walker Lindh? He's an American too. There's been too much treason at the Times for me to feel much sympathy for any of their employees. If Rohde continued to work for them, he was in sympathy with it.

An American journalist was kidnapped by Taliban militants...

I can guarantee what magazine he wasn't working for: SOLDIER OF FORTUNE. They've been incountry since the 1980s and never had a problem. I wonder why? ROFLMAO

Got that right. If Robert Brown can interview the 2nd in command of the Taliban and get a quote, this nincompoop commie NYt reporter can’t?

On a side note: it’s only though SOF and not the MSM that you get small tidbits of info such as Denzel Washington going to Walter Reed quietly and visiting the troops...

This reminds me of a Round Table discussion on TV focused on the ETHICS of Journalists in the war zone - decades ago — where a Marine Officer spoke of the men he lost on missions to rescue reporters who wrote negatively about America’s “involvement” in Vietnam.

I’m looking for my compassion at the moment. Then again, most likely, he’ll return as a convert giving them praise as Freedom Fighters. (gag)
