What do you mean it’s not good? This is a good thing. Let’s see what the NY Slime is willing to do to get its reporter back.

Maybe the Slime should enlist The Messiah to go over there and talk to the terrorists. That should do it.

Why would they kidnap a friend?

“Rohde”

What is the cultural origin of that name?

Looks German to me…

>.How sorry would you be if it were John Walker Lindh? He’s an American too

Absurd. You’re judging without any facts to support your conclusion apart from a blanket condemnation of the man simply because of where he works.

>>they are nothing less)

Imagine Zawahiri’s glee if he happened to get a look at this.

Those who hang the Times around his neck overlook his nationality. Fine, if they wish to do so.

For how things are not always what they seem, if you’ve read House to House by Sgt David Bellavia about the Battle for Fallujah, and how that much derided journalist here, Michael Ware, played a critical role in assisting the US Army at a crucial time.

Well, the phrase “Clinton Holdovers” lasted well into Bush’s second term.

So, expect a lot BushHoldoverism for a while.

Yep. Just wondering if it is German-Jewish (yiddisch).

I guess I’ll add a prayer that he doesn’t meet the same fate as Daniel Pearl.

I haven’t read this yet but it appears to be another worthwhile article in another publication too far to the left for my taste. (I hold my nose when I look at the women in the ads.)

Perhaps after the gloaters and wisecrackers have had their yucks at this guy’s expense they can start to list all the other individuals (non-famous) that they wish to trade off to the Taliban. So does every employee of the NYT Corporation go? Or just the ones working for the paper? Does the employee have to have done something treasonable (n your opinion) or does simply working for them qualify?

And in what capacity does a person have to work for the in order to be committing treason? Publisher, high-level editor, reporter abroad or at home, lay-out, advertising, features? Where do you draw the line? Or should they all be shipped to the Taliban?

Should all the advertisers that keep the paper alive go, as well? What about their employees?

And what about the subscribers? The casual readers?

Do you believe that the paper should be shut down? This is a serious question. These off-hand (or perhaps not) one-liners give the impression that you believe that it should.

Everyone who had badmouthed this guy and gleefully welcomed his abduction is as treasonous(to use a much overused word in silly contexts) as Johnny Lindh, amd also guilty of providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

The curse I wish to lay on them I won’t, since I doubt many of them know too many people in these hotzones, whether soldiers, journalists, aid workers or government non military staffers.
