Vanity: Fox News Says Palin Did Not Know Africa Was Continent, Not Country

Carl Cameron just said McCain campaign shocked to discover Sarah Palin did not realize Africa was a continent, believing instead that it was a country. She did not know the countries in NAFTA. She refused offered preparation for the Couric interview and threw temper tantrums over adverse press.

Wow. Dumping on Sarah in a big way. Shep asked how on Earth the McCain camp could have ended up picking such a dope (not exact words, but sense of what he said).

They did point out she seemed to help the polling numbers.

I knew this was going to be the template, but I was surprised at the level of nastiness on Fox News. Looks like elements of the McCain campaign is determined to make her the scapegoat for the loss. (Couldn't have been anything about the man at the top of the ticket.)

So there are no African-Americans?

Just Kenya-Americans (Like Obama)?

And South African-Americans?

And Mali-Americans?

Now I am confused...

I saw it too. I find the Africa part hard to believe, but it's far worse than thinking there are 57 states after all.

And the part about the vetted list not being inclusive enough and McCain wanted a hail mary to counter the change in momentum. Sarah got the call, before they had a chance to vet her.

As cover, he did say that from the moment Sarah Palin was announced until Lehman Bros. crashed, they were ahead. When McCain said the fundamentals of the economy were strong, Obama surged ahead and never looked back.

Huckster and Rommey are behind this.

Huckabee didn't even have a McCain/Palin sign in his yard. Nada.

I don’t care what Sarah knows about AFRICA or NAFTA.

I am sure of one thing, Sarah knows that AMERICA is HER country!

Barack can have AFRICA!

I stopped watching FOX news and all other news channels over a year ago and am the better for it. I get all the news I need right here and I’m no longer tempted to throw things at my TV.

ok, I admit that during the hurricanes this year I peeked in on Geraldo making a fool of himself....ya gotta find humor where ya can. Geraldo hanging onto a tiny palm tree in Galveston was priceless....

Oh, they didn’t like her? Well, McCain picked her—his choice, his fault. Honestly, watching McCain was like watching Bob Dole all over again. At least McCain had the good sense to pick someone young and fresh, as opposed to another old has-been (like Lieberman or Ridge). The truth is that McCain would have lost no matter who he picked. He might have pulled it out had he opposed the bailout, but he blew that too.

I wonder if the “internal pollsters” were Romney left-overs. Hummm. Sounds like Romney staff had another agenda than to elect McCain.

The McCain camp is trying to cover the fact MCCain is a loser and a pip by trashing Palin.

Really sad here. Face it, Juan was always a sows ear and would not have gotten as far as he did without her.

Pathetic. I am done with the republican party.

What is conservative about Sarah Palin?

She’s a RINO, too.

I can guarantee it’s not true. Rick Davis is trying to save his career. Kevin Madden is trying to befriend his new business partner, Howard Wolfson (Hillary campaign manager), and Nicole Wallace is a disgrace at her job. I wouldn’t hire her to PR my lemonade stand.

Part of the Romney Woman-Hater’s Club otherwise known as his former Presidential campaign staff.

As far as I am concerned, he and his minions will get frozen out. For good.

Still, this is embarrassing if true. A VP candidate should know this.

the media has us doing exactly what they want us to do...fighting among ourselves, knocking our former candidates (Romney, Huckabee, Guiliani). This is what we Republicans do best, right? We hear these things “thru” media reporters and believe it to be gospel! Let’s wait until we hear it directly from the accusers, ya know, like when pigs fly!

I think it’s Romney people trying to do as much damage to the person they see as their biggest obstacle to the 2012 nomination.

Oh, its Romney, based on nothing but pulling it out of your behind? You are so broken up that people should make up rumors about Palin, you make up your own about Romney.

If you want to find something to attack Romney with, maybe you could find a fact, an event, a quote you could use? That would take work, because Romney has conspicuously supported McCain/Palin. Soooo instead... just make stuff up. Great.

I didn't hear this segment but if Carl Cameron actually reported this I think this makes him look like an idiot. A reporter should use common sense even with sources that are normally reliable.
If something sounds implausible then it shouldn't be reported no matter how sensational. A responsible reporter knows better and this is a black mark on Carl.

Actually, Giuliani ran a very good campaign (Pat Robertson endorsed him), but Rudy’s personal life was so messy, he had no chance to get the nomination.

He is sharp as a tack, and would have out-debated Obama, which McCain did not.

Remember that there are more than just Democrats who see Sarah Palin as a danger in 2012. Romney needs to drag down Palin also, to advance himself in that year. So, Romney people inside the McCain campaign have an interest in releasing anti-Palin stuff to the Democrats in the press.

That's what I see is going on, now.
