EDITORIAL: What if Democrats win it all?
The Washington Times ^ | 10/31/2008 | Washington Times Staff

If Barack Obama is elected into office as the 44th president of the United States on Nov. 4 and voters, in tandem, give the Democrats 60 seats in the Senate and give them a solid majority in the House. What happens after Inauguration Day?

Single-party rule is inherently totalitarian whether the people consent to it or not. In most cases, one-party states rise out of authoritarian regimes, including former monarchies, or socialist revolutions. There are currently seven - China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Vietnam, Syria, Korea. The United States would become the eighth.

Single-party rule is something to fear in and of itself - particularly from a spending standpoint, regardless of which party has absolute power. From 2003 to 2005, George W. Bush and the Republican Congress created the largest expansion of Medicare in history the prescription-drug bill and started two wars. They also succeeded in creating the largest tax cut in history.

I wouldn’t count on that. I surely wouldn’t put my faith in it as a strategy. The kind of control in prospect is too good to pass up. Intimidation of in-party dissidence will reach third-world levels and won’t be resisted very well. All Hussein needs is 66 Senate votes for a treaty with any two-bit “nation” in the world and he is anything he wants to be. If he has 60 Senators he will surely get two or three Republicans to go along and a couple more will be easy with some very believable personal threats backed up by some graphic evidence that the threats are serious.

Let's hope, pray and vote we don't find out. However, there is no way demonrats in control of everything won't go too far and likely very early and the best part will be that there are no Republicans to blame.

There are other factors that could work against them as well, such as a return to the high gas prices of the summer and Pelosi's unwillingness to allow any drilling anywhere to save the planet. How low can their ratings go? Even an attack of some sort may work against them. Bush rallied people and initially did the right things within the narrow window of time he had. Can't see 0bama doing anything right in this regard, just like Biden said.

There are other issues that could lead to impeachment, such as the question of his citizenship at minimum. My hunch is that there are people holding a few cards they'll play when the time is right to get something from 0bama of get rid of him. Why we continue to elect black mailable people to high office is a mystery I'll never understand.

...but I wouldn’t make any statement that could be deemed a killer, if folks acknowledged it.

Respectful speech via freedom is just something that I can't shake as a way of life.

I guess I had just better get in line if I know what's good for me. ; )

I'm an individual and my thought is in line with it.

I truly hope I am not being offensive to anyone. (LOL!)

If the Marxists win it all, have the super majority in both houses of congress, well, the Republic is screwed. Screwed into the ground so far that 100 H-bombs will not dislodge it.

I can’t say you’re wrong for sure. Can you imagine the idiots that would come out of the woodwork? It staggers the mind to wonder what the guest list would be like at the White House. I can imagine who some of them would be. Talk about a four year Halloween...

I’m not sure we COULD retake the House and Senate in 2010 if the RATS hit the trifecta. They’ve made cheating an art, and with the cheaters in power, there would not even be a pretense at investigation.

You discount the influence of Ross Perot, a factor that isn’t present now.

Were it not for Perot, it’s quite likely that Bush Sr. would have won.

I can’t say for sure we could either. I’d say the odds are long on it, unless we organize and really do our work, or Obama went so postal that folks would be scared to death of what he’d do next.

All you have to do is think of every liberal, leftist, enviro, anti-something, Marxists, socialist, communist, group out there, that has wanted something done the past 20 years, with a Marxist president and controlling congress, they will get everything their hearts desire. Taxes, global warming crap, UN money, 401k plans down the drain, cut military spending to the bone, you name it, and they are all going to be lining up at Read and Pelosi’s door step wanting their just due. Just think about all the crap the left has always wanted. This is like going to Wal Mart or the Mall, and not having to pay for anything, just grab all you can put in the buggie.

It's not just the Supreme Court but all the other courts the Prez picks judges for, too. Bush has done some good here, but many of his choices wait for a vote up or down...and wait...and wait. 0bama has already stated his pro-choice without restrictions litmus test for the Supreme Court. What a mess he'll make of the rest of the justice system.

That’s an interesting point. Clinton got 43% of the vote in 1992. Obama will have to earn a clear majority to win. (very close to 50% anyway)

That doesn’t bode quite as well for 2010.

Folks, if Obama can win in this nation and the public is comfortable with what he does, there isn’t anything that could have prevented it in the long run.

I think Obama is so flawed that people should have been able to see it. If they can’t and this nation goes down the tubes, then a great test will have come and gone. Man will have proven that given the best possible opportunity, he still couldn’t rule in a proper manner.

God is ultimately proven right here. Sin doesn’t work. Man is sinful, end of test.

If this nation falls out of a democratic republic, this world will meld down to the point only God can save us.

Sorry to go religious on folks, but that’s how I see it.

Who else can I depend upon to take care of me better than I can myself?

Okay, I won't go there.../snicker

You know what, what you describe sounds like someone going down the street with a shopping basket, looting.

I think there’s fertile ground for labeling a possible Obama administration along these lines.
