I have not heard any mention of his statement on the economy. He said something like he would rebuild the economy from the bottom up instead of the top down. The top down is a failed policy. Time for a change. He mentioned that this notion that spreading wealth at the top and hope it trickles down to poor does not work. I dont know the exact quote, did anyone else hear it?
Jobs come from the bottom up.
I heard it. It’s that “trickle-up economics,” I guess.
Yes, you heard it right. There’s a transcript of the whole debate posted. Check the side bar. It’s near his talking points about giving 95 percent of working people a tax cut.
The same people who decry the lack of depth and detail in our campaigns are the ones who are always on CNN barking about having to boil things down to a bumper sticker slogan. They then complain that the OTHER guy is all about "bumper sticker slogans".
At the bottom will be people with their hands out. At the top will be a plethora of government entities dribbling out cash in exchange for promise of votes.
You summmed it up. Many people at the bottom, btw, don’t even owe anything in taxes and in fact already receive “income credits” which result in tax day being a bonus day for them. These are Obama’s constituents. People who really work, on the other hand, even those who earn as little as $40,000 dollars, are the enemy and need to have their “wealth” redistributed.
Also, would somebody somewhere (McCain, are you listening) please come to the defense of business, large and small? That’s what our economy is built on. Government is not and never can be an engine of productivity or creator of wealth.
“Bottom Up” means nationalizing small businesses... and giving them to the well meaning indigents like in Zimbabwe.
a better response to those who argue for a bottom up approach is that, what they really means is what we’ll see is a growing and expanding government all under the guise of for your benefit. You’ll see freedom shrink and government control expand. Your lives will be dependant on thescraps the government hand out
Well, let’s see now. He wants to give lots more money to welfare people who will then spend more and create new jobs. The only problem is that the people who supply the new jobs will be paying much higher taxes and won’t be able to pay their workers so there won’t BE anything to buy. Good thinking, O Brilliant One.
Chaos will ensue when Obama starts we distributing private businesses to the low-lifes in the inner cities.
I think this is code language.
In an email exchange with a liberal friend, I kept warning that a President Obama would lead us quickly to socialism and marxism. He kept writing back with the word “bottom-up” economics.
Long story short, bottom-up is a safe way to say “socialism.”
They’ll “stimulate” the economy by buying cigs, beer & crack.
A President Hussein with a heavily Democrat Congress just might succeed in rebuilding the economy from the bottom up, i.s., putting in a new foundation and building a bungalow where there was a high rise before. That transformation would be the transition to real socialism..
‘Bottom up’? How naive. It defies logic.
“FROM EACH ACCORDING TO HIS ABILITY... TO EACH ACCORDING TO HIS NEEDS”.

McCain should just respond to Barry: “Just stop it with that socialist claptrap and class warfare. This is America, not the old Soviet union.”
The left has been trying that “bottom-up” thing since at least Johnson’s “great society” and it’s failed miserably. All it has achieved after 4 decades is 3 generations of welfare families, dependent on the working folks to carry their weight.
