Ain't No Mystery
Charlie Daniels Soapbox ^ | Sept. 8, 2008 | Charlie Daniels

In the last couple of weeks, there is no denying that Sarah Palin has attained superstar status in the political arena and the Democrats and the mainstream media are scratching their heads and wondering what hit them. In fact, in a matter of days, she has had more media scrutiny than Barack Obama has had in the past two years.

I seriously doubt if they will admit the truth about Sarah Palin, even if they were able to accept it. There's no deep dark mystery here, no Rosetta Stone required to decipher the Palin phenomenon. It's as simple as first grade arithmetic.

Sarah Palin is the first politician to come along in decades who is truly one of "We The People". The distance between Alaska and Washington, DC has never been more apparent than when you hear this lady speak.

Relaxed, confident, feminine and totally unafraid of the left-wing media that so terrifies the beltway bunch. She comes off as somebody who could live next door to you and very well come by to borrow a cup of sugar or offer to pick your kids up from school.

When you compare her to Barack Obama, he comes off as stiff, formal, arrogant and elitist, somebody who hides behind barricades and bodyguards, the kind of guy you'd never think of giving a hug to.

Compare her to Hillary Clinton, and Hillary comes off as an ice queen who has never done her own laundry or cooked a Thanksgiving dinner.

Compare her to Joe Biden, and Biden comes off as a guy you've probably never seen without a suit on, who represents politics as usual and the same old insider trading that has been going on in Washington for way too long.

Compare her to Harry "the war is lost, the surge is not working" Reid, and Harry Reid comes off like a pessimistic old man who hoards pennies and kicks cats.

Compare her to Nancy Pelosi who says we simply can't do anything about our energy situation. Sarah Palin represents hope and practical solutions like drilling in ANWR in her home state of Alaska. Of course she'll have to talk her running mate into it.

The bottom line is that Sarah Palin, in her feminine style of dress, her hair fashionably done, wearing makeup and talking common sense is just somebody who represents the regular folks, not the special interest groups, in fact she wouldn't even allow a lobbyist into her office as Governor of Alaska.

What Barrack Obama and all the empty suits in the Democrat party can't understand is that Sarah Palin represents somebody America feels they could sit down and have a cup of coffee with, someone who has not spent her life in politics or academia, but has been a wife, a mother and an ordinary American who has experienced first hand the problems rank and file citizens face on a daily basis.

And something they had better learn right away. America really likes Sarah, we identify with her, and a slap at her is a slap at us.

And Americans don't like being slapped.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

More common sense from Mr. Daniels!

This one a few days earlier:

Fresh Air

It was a Friday morning and I was floating down the Kenai River in Alaska in a small boat, fishing. We drifted past a small cabin and a man standing on the shore hollered, "You won't believe who John McCain picked for a running mate!!!"

He was probably thinking he was the only one in the back country to know the news but my son had informed me earlier in the morning and when my fishing guide, Jeremy, hollered back, "Sarah Palin!" I guess it took a little wind out of his sails.

By the next day when we got to Palmer to play the Alaska State Fair, people had already swung into action. Placards and T-shirts appeared heralding the fact that the popular governor of the State of Alaska would indeed be part of one of the most important presidential tickets in our history, and as much as the announcement excited and surprised the rest of the country, it just floored Alaska.

The only criticism I heard from the local folks was, "We sure hate to lose her as governor," which is an over the top compliment considering that a lot of states would be tickled to death to ship their governor off to Washington, or Pluto for that matter.

From what I can tell about Sarah Palin, she's a wife and a mother who is pro-life, pro-gun, and proud of having a "Mrs." instead of a "Ms." in front of her name, who ran against a long-established and entrenched political machine and won, befuddling the old boy's club and taking the governorship right out of their grubby hands.

She turned the "Bridge to Nowhere" into the "Bridge That Never Was" and invited oil exploration in ANWR.

If it wasn't so pitiful, it would be amusing to watch the Democratically controlled mainstream media try to deal with this unknown quantity, aghast at the fact that her 17 year-old, unmarried daughter is pregnant.

What crass hypocrisy. Since when did the Democrats ever care about any unborn child, legitimate or illegitimate? You can't have it both ways, guys.

I'll have to admit it, after hearing her speech to the Republican convention I am smitten with the lady.

It's so refreshing to hear a politician speak plainly, in a vernacular we can all understand, letting us see into her true character, and taking on the powerful mainstream media in no uncertain terms. No platitudes, no generalities, just straight-ahead plain talk and in my humble opinion, America loved it.

Here's a lady who has lived her life close to the people, stands strong and unabashed in her beliefs, and not tainted by a beltway mentality.

Here's a woman who has been happily married to a real man for twenty years, has been a successful leader, is proud of her femininity, doesn't wear pants suits all the time and realizes that it doesn't take a village to raise child, it takes a family.

I truly believe that the Democrats are scared to death of her.

Go get 'em, Sarah! http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox-2008-090508.htm

in fact she wouldn't even allow a lobbyist into her office as Governor of Alaska.

I don't need more reasons to really admire Governor Palin, but I didn't know this and, if true, my admiration grows even stronger.

IF the losers can challenge that statement, they must do so in the next 24 hours.
Otherwise, slashing their wrists is a satisfactory alternative...

Or watch a football game and drink a few brews with her husband and not have to explain it.

I’ve never seen Daniels convey bad information, but it would be nice if we could verify it.

“America really likes Sarah, we identify with her, and a slap at her is a slap at us.”

An article yesterday identified ‘rural voters’ at 60 million voters! That’s a big demographic to insult! But the the media isn’t very bright after all.

Charlie knocked that one out of the park. I know lots of feminist...oh sorry, that word no longer exists...liberal women who scoff at cooking meals ("I don't cook", I've been told haughtily) much less a Thanksgiving dinner. That is what America sees in Palin: someone who has cooked delicious family dinners, cleaned up afterwards (accepting but not requiring offers of help), smiled kindly at eccentric relatives, got the kids to bed and got up early the next morning to get to work.

I watched my mom do that for years. That is a real person, not someone who disdains normalcy or the joys (and miseries) of family life as something beneath them. It is small wonder that steaming bags of festering hate like Mary Mitchell and Gloria Steinem dislike Palin so much. She casts an unflattering light on them...

Heh... sorry, no sale.

To be up-front about it, I'm a native Californian who voted for Arnold. There, I said it.

After Arnold's five, very worthy ballot initiatives failed in 2005, I could no longer ignore the handwriting on the wall, and moved the family to Texas.

Arnold really did want to reform Sacramento, and steer California back onto a sane course, but once he encountered near total opposition from the legislature AND the people, he caved in.

Unfortunately, he gave away his personal integrity at that moment. He would have been a better man to tender his resignation, than to allow himself to become a tool of the liberals.

He sold his soul to the devil. He laid down his arms, when he would have been a better man to have let the opposition destroy him, while fighting to the death for what's right. He may have lost the war, but he would have kept his honor.

Introduce Gov. Sarah Palin. In mere moments, she exposed Arnold for the failure and coward that he is. Is it any wonder that he didn't speak at the Republican National Convention?

Arnie still has time to redeem his honor. He'll never have a career in national politics, but he could end what career he does have with honor by reverting to true form. Otherwise, his epitaph will be something to pity.

I live in Valdez, Alaska and I have friends with connections to some of the biggest, most influential Republican donors in the state. I have it on good authority that these donors were not happy when Sarah would not answer their phone calls. The good old boy network in Alaska didn’t help elect Sarah, and she is not beholden to them. So I can readily believe that lobbyists have a hard time getting in to see her.
