More common sense from Mr. Daniels!

This one a few days earlier:

Fresh Air

It was a Friday morning and I was floating down the Kenai River in Alaska in a small boat, fishing. We drifted past a small cabin and a man standing on the shore hollered, "You won't believe who John McCain picked for a running mate!!!"

He was probably thinking he was the only one in the back country to know the news but my son had informed me earlier in the morning and when my fishing guide, Jeremy, hollered back, "Sarah Palin!" I guess it took a little wind out of his sails.

By the next day when we got to Palmer to play the Alaska State Fair, people had already swung into action. Placards and T-shirts appeared heralding the fact that the popular governor of the State of Alaska would indeed be part of one of the most important presidential tickets in our history, and as much as the announcement excited and surprised the rest of the country, it just floored Alaska.

The only criticism I heard from the local folks was, "We sure hate to lose her as governor," which is an over the top compliment considering that a lot of states would be tickled to death to ship their governor off to Washington, or Pluto for that matter.

From what I can tell about Sarah Palin, she's a wife and a mother who is pro-life, pro-gun, and proud of having a "Mrs." instead of a "Ms." in front of her name, who ran against a long-established and entrenched political machine and won, befuddling the old boy's club and taking the governorship right out of their grubby hands.

She turned the "Bridge to Nowhere" into the "Bridge That Never Was" and invited oil exploration in ANWR.

If it wasn't so pitiful, it would be amusing to watch the Democratically controlled mainstream media try to deal with this unknown quantity, aghast at the fact that her 17 year-old, unmarried daughter is pregnant.

What crass hypocrisy. Since when did the Democrats ever care about any unborn child, legitimate or illegitimate? You can't have it both ways, guys.

I'll have to admit it, after hearing her speech to the Republican convention I am smitten with the lady.

It's so refreshing to hear a politician speak plainly, in a vernacular we can all understand, letting us see into her true character, and taking on the powerful mainstream media in no uncertain terms. No platitudes, no generalities, just straight-ahead plain talk and in my humble opinion, America loved it.

Here's a lady who has lived her life close to the people, stands strong and unabashed in her beliefs, and not tainted by a beltway mentality.

Here's a woman who has been happily married to a real man for twenty years, has been a successful leader, is proud of her femininity, doesn't wear pants suits all the time and realizes that it doesn't take a village to raise child, it takes a family.

I truly believe that the Democrats are scared to death of her.

Go get 'em, Sarah! http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox-2008-090508.htm

in fact she wouldn't even allow a lobbyist into her office as Governor of Alaska.

I don't need more reasons to really admire Governor Palin, but I didn't know this and, if true, my admiration grows even stronger.

IF the losers can challenge that statement, they must do so in the next 24 hours.
Otherwise, slashing their wrists is a satisfactory alternative...

What Barrack Obama and all the empty suits in the Democrat party can't understand is that Sarah Palin represents somebody America feels they could sit down and have a cup of coffee with

Or watch a football game and drink a few brews with her husband and not have to explain it.

America really likes Sarah, we identify with her, and a slap at her is a slap at us.

Go Charlie! And as Gretchen Wilson says, if you don't know Charlie Daniels' songs, you ain't a redneck woman!

Compare her to Hillary Clinton, and Hillary comes off as an ice queen who has never done her own laundry or cooked a Thanksgiving dinner.

Charlie knocked that one out of the park. I know lots of feminist...oh sorry, that word no longer exists...liberal women who scoff at cooking meals ("I don't cook", I've been told haughtily) much less a Thanksgiving dinner. That is what America sees in Palin: someone who has cooked delicious family dinners, cleaned up afterwards (accepting but not requiring offers of help), smiled kindly at eccentric relatives, got the kids to bed and got up early the next morning to get to work.

I watched my mom do that for years. That is a real person, not someone who disdains normalcy or the joys (and miseries) of family life as something beneath them. It is small wonder that steaming bags of festering hate like Mary Mitchell and Gloria Steinem dislike Palin so much. She casts an unflattering light on them...

Charlie is truly an American treasure ... but then we here in East Tennessee are getting used to having good ol' country boys with talent enlighten the rest of the nation. Folks 'round here say Charlie gets he 'cause he has that simple thing called common sense. Seems that's in short supply up yonder in Yankee land.

God bless Charlie Daniels and make him live to be 100, to keep dealin' sense from the heartland for decades to come.
