The Obama campaign talks a lot about new ideas and expanding the political map, but in the swing state of Pennsylvania, which the campaign has focused on almost exclusively since the Democratic convention, old-school issues still rise to the fore.
The latest example came Friday during a small political event at SCHOTT North America Inc., a glass factory in Duryea, Pa., where even a hand-picked crowd threw Barack Obama a curve ball.
A woman in the crowd told Obama she had heard a rumor that he might be planning some sort of gun ban upon being elected president. Obama trotted out his standard policy stance, that he had a deep respect for the traditions of gun ownership but favored measures in big cities to keep guns out of the hands of gang bangers and drug dealers in big cities who already have them and are shooting people.

So what LAW will take those guns away and prevent them from getting more?
Ya, you’re not going to take our guns away. And today Joe Biden said you’re not going to raise taxes.
Yea, HE won’t.. the new army of domestic security will. But remember, it’s for your own good.
You ask, “How about the bullets?”
Let me quote Menachem Begin on that. When the British were confiscating Jewish guns just before Israeli independence, they sent an emissary to ask if Begin would have his group turn in their guns. The answer he sent back was, “No, but we will be happy to let you have some bullets.”
Ahhhh...... the desperation...... sweet! :D
Simple... He will just pass a law.
No Obama will not take guns from anyone. He’ll appoint ACLU judges to do it for him.
This guy is slippery when dry. He was against the 2nd Amendment before the ink was dry.
Thanks. I wanted to post it in comment# 1. I forgot.
Thank God he didn't say "nappy". We'd never hear the end of it.
I can almost understand his appeal to Democrats, but I am thoroughly stumped as to who in the Hell thought that Sen. Biden would be a good idea, much less the reasoning that he brought foreign policy experience to Obama's table.
Yeah, Biden is just GREAT for foreign policy if you're a Cold War-era Soviet, a radical Iranian student hostage-taker in Teheran, a Sandinista, Moammar Khadafy, or Saddam Hussein. You'll love him!
Thanks for the link.
Crap. I’ve been looking out the back door for Mount Nitaly all day...
In 2004 Kerry won PA by 1/2 of the votes by which Bush won Ohio (PA -75,000 v. OH +150,000). There are plenty of votes for Palin in this state. Why do you think Obama has been spending so much time here? It was a battleground state last time, and given Barry's gun grabbing record in the state with the highest percentage of NRA members in the country, it's going to be contested territory again.
Their dissent on Heller was barely coherent. And someone made fun of Clarence Thomas's writing? his opinions are gems!!!
Sarah, thank you THANK YOU thank you! for giving us the option to vote for you and SCOTUS without crossing our fingers this time.
It is in a WSJ blog and not the main paper but it is there as a quote. Pure desperation if accurate. Clearly he is campaigning above his weight class - and pay grade.
Check with your local republican party and see if you can help. Maybe it is a state thing, but our Florida county’s GOP ran a voter registration drive outside last week’s gun show.
“I see a couple of sportsmen back there.”
Translation: “I see a couple of bitter white dudes back there shaking there heads.”
It's easy to understand. They wanted someone to be a figurehead, someone they can easily control. You don't put someone in power that can think for themselves if you have an agenda like that. The only reason that Biden is the VP candidate is so that he can be near enough to him to keep him from f'n up. Sort of what they have been accusing Cheney of over the last 8 yrs.
Take along some voter registration forms, and hand them out along with a comment about Obambi's "controlling guns in cities" comment. A "city" to Obambi is probably more than 5 people in one place.
