I totally agree. I’m getting pounded on other posts by people thinking we should confront Russia militarily over this. That kind of thinking is beyond retarded in my book. There are many more prudent ways of dealing with this issue that are in the USA’s NATIONAL SECURITY INTERESTS.

It could well, if Bush joined them, stop Putin's juggernaut in its track because to harm them would lead to a much wider, all-out war.
It would be gutsy, couragous, and it would be the type of thing that comes out of the blue, like the Rose revolution itself, or the way the people in Moscow stopped the tanks back in the late 1980s, on which history turns.
The times for words in Georgia are done...it is time for action. Either the couragous action of these Presidents who know well the evil...or action in support of the Georgian military.
Otherwise Georgia is lost and we will be living with the foreign policy consequences of that...waiting for Russias next move (and there would be others) for years to come.

I think the Russians saw us project military power successfully in two countries, and on the other side of the world, and they got nostalgic . . . too bad for them, they will be the bad old days.

You know something? If Bush did that then Putin could send a bomb directly to where Bush is staying. He’s be a hero of a good many Americans, (the left) and a good many Muslims in the world. I think that idea is stupid.

So far, tonight is an “address” by the President. Other than a statement of the obvious (i.e. some really, nasty sh!+ going down in Georgia), he can “address” all he wants, it is what it is.
The entire west and free world is being tested as we speak in the small country of Georgia.
If we allow Russia to trample this free country, which we were all mesmerized by a few years ago in their Rose revolution for freedom, and who answered our call for help in Iraq, then we will be paying for it for many, many years to come.
I believe Bush should lead from the front on this. These other President's are...and they know the score, the risks, and the costs for not doing so better than the trest of us because they lived under such tyranny oin the past.
