Right but the Senate is open so that the President will not make recess appointments. BlueMoose was making the point that the VP could attempt to close it, but I have to say why?
If we are where we are with the House, why not let the Senate stay open? It supports the argument that the House shouldn’t go on paid vacation while there is no resolution on offshore drilling.

He can call the HOUSE into special session. He doesn’t have to wait for the Senate to adjourn.

president pro tempore - A constitutionally recognized officer of the Senate who presides over the chamber in the absence of the Vice President. The President Pro Tempore (or, "president for a time") is elected by the Senate and is, by custom, the Senator of the majority party with the longest record of continuous service.
The VP needs to get to the senate and keep them there allso. A Senator need to amke a motion to have the Sgt of arm s bring the Senators back. Won't happen but should.
From #dontgo
Pence: “I’d be delighted if John McCain joined us.
RobertBluey: Pence said some members had people ask them at church yesterday if they were going back to Washington.

If you are unhappy our side is protesting the rats shut down of the peoples House No, I'm unhappy that the pubbies think a 9-5 weekday "protest" is viable, and that a couple dozen reps (out of hundreds) a meaningful protest make.
