Are we certain that we are putting the whole message out? From I've been hearing recently, the House energy bill is an “All of the Above” approach, including nuclear power, alternative energy and conservation efforts. However, the only thing I hear them talk about is drilling.

As much of a force as the conservative base is, the only way this effort is going to be successful is if we are able to get the moderates on our side with as much fervor as we are showing. The best way to do this is to pound the fact that we want to open up everything, that this is not just a “handout to the oil companies” but a national initiative to become energy independent. Talk about conservation, talk about exploring alternative fuels in press conferences, and the moderates will come to understand what we want and likely support us. Let's not look at this as an oil issue, let's look at this from a independence and self-reliance point of view.

We cannot let the media characterize this as something that it is not, and we need to let the American people know that we are open to all possibilities. We need to call on the American people to use their imagination and their talents to find solutions to this problem, and the marketplace will bring to the forefront those solutions that don't hinder our desired way of life.

That would be the Reagan approach to this.

Just got off the phone with the White House comment line. When I told the operator that the President just sent out a statement that he was unwilling to call a special session. NO JOKE... She GASPED!!!!! I had to say, “excuse me?”. She then said she was sorry to hear that and very disappointed. I also informed her that Nancy turned off the cameras. She did not know that and on her own said, “that is ridiculous, it's the peoples house”.

Mr. President, it's pretty bad when your own staff is disappointed in you and voices it to the person on the end of the phone.
Get off you duff and bring back Congress and let all of America see that those that are holding us hostage are the Democrats. Let America see the Dims give all of us the collective finger.

but this land has been drilled to death, and the oil shale
in some of it has been thoroughly pumped out. There needs
to be NEW oil fields and there are plenty to be had, if
the DUMBocrats would just get a clue!
