Dear Freepers: It is Time to Support John McCain
June 5 2008 | jveritas

Posted on 06/05/2008 6:25:12 PM PDT by jveritas

In this election we have very a clear choice to make.

A choice between Victory against Islamic Terrorism or surrender to our terrorist enemy.

A choice between free market capitalist economy or socialism.

A choice between constructionist judges or liberal judges who legislate from the bench.

A choice between Life for the unborn or abortion on demand going wild.

A choice between lower taxes or higher taxes.

A choice between small government or big government.

A choice between John McCain or Barack Obama.

Let us choose John McCain. A Patriot, a war hero, and would be an excellent President.

God Bless America and our brave troops.

McCain has actually been tortured. I suspect, on that basis, that his opinion on the matter carries more weight than most of ours.

now is the time to defeat the Democrat/Socialist Party.

With what? Democrat/Socialist Party Lite?
Nah. That would only encourage the liberal ("moderate") Republicans and make them believe they are on the right track.

It’s really heart-breaking reading a lot of these replies. I just don’t know what to say. The Republic is having great difficulty rallying to its own defense.

ALL will rally if given one to rally to- That is *not* McCain't. Herein lies the folly of 'electability' trumping principle.

Considering the alternatives, I will vote for McCain. Not happy about it though.

We must go to our leader for guidance. Ask Rush to tell us how to vote in this election.

I suppose Conservatives won't be happy till the GOP is down to 1974 levels, and we turn the Presidency over to another Jimmy Carter-who gave us the present day Iran!

All you need for conservative support is a conservative nominee. If the Republicans think they can continue the way they are going, then yes, 1974 levels are quite possible on the way toward being the Whigs.

I agree and will be voting for him. Is he perfect? No. Is he the lesser of the two evils? Of course. It’s time to fight the real enemy now.

Those are the same tired reasons that Republicans have been trotting out every election for 20 years or so. I’m sick and tired of voting for the lessser of two evils.

Best to go "all in" with McCain this November. There is no other choice. This is a very important election. Not the time to "teach the Republican Party a lesson".

I don’t think I can support him. I might end up voting for him.

I won’t vote for McCain. He wants to censor groups like the NRA and Right to Life during elections so they cannot criticize anyone running for office.

Putin’s doing the same thing, banning groups that criticize him during elections.

I see no difference between Putin’s fascism and McCain’s CFR. They both ban criticism of politicians and I will never vote for someone with such un-American ideas.

I will vote conservative. If there is no Reaganite at the top of the ticket, I will write one in. No more boogeyman free lunches for the Repugnicrats.

I have long suspicioned that there may be a lot of moles/sleepers in FR ever since they got beat up so bad in 2000...

Certainly there seems to be a frightening lack of understanding of history and just what Marxism/Communism is...and a naivete in thinking it could never happen here.

Ok, I have been on FR for a long time so I am not a mole (at least I don't think so). Being a historian as well, I think I can say, somewhat, that I understand Marxism/Socialism...

What's your point? That we are all so stupid because we despise McCain and won't vote for him? Let me toss out my version of history (which I have stated a few times):

Lucy always says she will hold the football for Charlie Brown...

At what point does Charlie Brown walk off the field and say enough is enough?

...I am going to hope that a lot of these posters here tonight are actually DU moles/sleepers and not indicative of republican voters.

Just keep saying that to yourself...right up to election night when you'll find out we weren't DU Trolls. I appreciate all of your arguments for voting for him, just don't see the same man that you are making yourself see.

What’s more important to you? Preserving a party or preserving the country.

Preserving the country. That's why I'm not going to vote for a bad candidate just because he has (R) after his name.

In case you hadn't noticed, the word has gotten out that conservatives will vote for the (R) anyway, as long as they are thrown a few lies and some look-good/feel-good rhetoric. As long as this is the case, conservatism will continue to lose ground, regardless of which party wins...ergo, a loss for the country.

However, if it can be demonstrated that conservatism is relevant, and the party ignores it at its own peril, then we might have a loss for the party in the short term, but a gain overall for the country.

And if a liberal with an (R) can win without conservatives, then maybe conservatives should re-examine whether the are the "silent majority" as is repeatedly claimed.

Here's another way to look at things....

How can we expect our candidates to stick to principles, if we won't do so ourselves?

Right now, in America we have two choices in November. A far left party or a center left party. Either way we vote we are going left. I see no reason at all to vote for either one. I am not going to vote for someone who is the "lesser of two evils". McCain is BARELY not wobbly on the War on Terror, good for him. That alone is not reason to vote for him. McCain will close Gitmo, cut back nukes, and likely will not modernize the military which he burned Rumsfeld at the stake for trying to do. I do not see him as that great of a supporter of the military just because he was for the surge before it was popular.

In everything else McCain will be every bit as disasterous for this country as Obama. Both seem to be Running to be Carter II and I see no reason to help either one.

We are the firewall Allegra, the Dhimmis do not want to win in Iraq...period...they would rather see America lose, then to dare to win in Iraq.

Democrats want a diminished America.

There will be substantive differences between a McCain presidency and an Obama presidency. This means that, if Obama is elected, there will be changes not easily undone in the future.
