Preserving the country. That's why I'm not going to vote for a bad candidate just because he has (R) after his name.
In case you hadn't noticed, the word has gotten out that conservatives will vote for the (R) anyway, as long as they are thrown a few lies and some look-good/feel-good rhetoric. As long as this is the case, conservatism will continue to lose ground, regardless of which party wins...ergo, a loss for the country.
However, if it can be demonstrated that conservatism is relevant, and the party ignores it at its own peril, then we might have a loss for the party in the short term, but a gain overall for the country.
And if a liberal with an (R) can win without conservatives, then maybe conservatives should re-examine whether the are the "silent majority" as is repeatedly claimed.
Here's another way to look at things....
How can we expect our candidates to stick to principles, if we won't do so ourselves?
“Preserving the country. That’s why I’m not going to vote for a bad candidate just because he has (R) after his name.”
NOT voting for McCain IS voting for Obama. Period.
Well, at least you're honest. Unlike so many here. I've been saying that for a long time, that we are no longer the majority and that's why McCain is flippant about us. I think the events of the past several years and elections proves that.
