Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008

Posted on 05/14/2008 5:16:40 PM PDT by trussell

Prayer Request

Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th

See the posts below for information about this procedure.

Jim Update:

It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.

I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.

Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.

He sounded better than he has for the past few months.
He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.

They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.

Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.

I hope this makes sense.

When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.

Father, hear our prayers.

Thanks for all the updates, Amy

I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time.

He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg

The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading.

So I imagine that is the decision he will make.

Don't worry about him getting online, he has an “air” card so he can get online anywhere.

He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby.

Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual.

Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon.

Good advice you gave Jim, Amy.

Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure

Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks

And the legion here that are pulling for him.

Today's short update:

I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.

I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.

He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.

His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.

Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

I’m so glad my words helped. Jim is a man who has made a difference in the lives of countless FReepers and lurkers. Through his vision and integrity, HE made Free Republic, the premier conservative site on the internet, happen!

God bless you, Jim, Sheila, and all those who love you. I pray you are recovering peacefully, without pain or fear, surrounded by your dearest family and friends.

It’s funny how we can get so attached to someone we have never met...but it’s clear to me how much Jim has brought into all our lives through Free Republic. What an incredible gift he has so generously given to our entire country!’

Those are the words that convey my thoughts & feelings about Jim & Free Republic.

I had the privilege of shaking Jim's hand one time. It was in DC in May, 1999 at the Rally before the Tribute Dinner for the House Managers....I recall his warm smile and brave heart.

Dear Jim....May God continue to Bless and hold you in the Palm of His Hand.

Can this newer thread be put at the top of the News/Activism sidebar, to replace the now-locked original thread that is still there?

Thank you for your posting, Amy.

We thank God for this news. And Thank our Father for watching over you Jim as you recover from a major surgery.

You are a very special human being on this old earth and Jim, as cute as you are, and as bummed as you must be to say goodbye to part of your leg, I confess, it is your mind (that marvelous brain of yours so full of love for this nation) that makes our hearts zing and our minds roar.

I pray that you fly through all that lays ahead ( take the drugs...this is their purpose ) with renewed energy and determination. I thank God for you and what you have provided for so many, many Americans and look forward to reading more of your incredible wisdom, wit, perspective and drive.

You are an inspiration, you ol' dog, you.

A hungry man is a strong man!

Good news and we look forward to the great old rough and tumble Jim back with us before too long.

We will try not to bust up the bar furniture around here (until he gets back, LOL).

Good morning, Everyone!

Morning Update ...

I just talked to Jim. He said that he slept great last night. In fact he slept right thru breakfast.

He said he has had his morning bath and that it was really refreshing. He hasn't talked to any doctors this morning but he expects to meet with them today. After that, he will have a better idea of what to expect. He said before surgery they told him he would be there 3 or 4 days.

John and Chris took turns staying at the hospital all night.

I told Jim again that all his FReeper FRiends were still praying. He said to tell you he'll be back soon and thank you.

I probably will not have another update until late this afternoon. Thank you again for all the hugs and prayers sent Jim's way.

To be added or deleted from Jim's List, please FReepmail me.
