Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?
If you support Mr. McCain, can you make the case for your man?
Can you make the case without bringing up the War?
Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?
Can you make the case without using any ACU ratings? (Those don't impress anybody.)
Can you make the case without insults or telling people to "calm down"?
Can you make the case without the type of lying and dishonesty we've come to expect from John McCain and his special friend Mike Huckabee?
Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?
Can you make the case without using Hillary Rodham Clinton as some kind of boogyman or boogyperson?
Can you?
The ball is in your court.
You’re both right of course, still on the 2nd of 5 stages of grief.
It’s like having to chew off your own leg to get free of the bear trap.
"Dont doublecross a Fire Pig. They have the ability to be quite abrasive when things dont turn out as they planned."
Note to self: I am absolutely gobsmacked. Mitt Romney will be 61 next month! Am I the only one who didn’t know he was 60??? I thought he was in his early 50’s. He is also a Rat (Chinese zodiac).
Point being we cannot allow the WH to be turned into a nest for socialist indoctrination. The generation of socialists coming out of the 60s chaos must die before any Dem becomes viable again.
To paraphrase the presumptive GOP nominee, you missed the point, my friend. The cartoon caption is a quote from the republican elephant depicted. I believe that anyone who agrees with that sentiment also has a hole in his head!
Check out my tagline. It's amazing how accurate these are.
Last post on this subject.
thanks angelcindy.
Where do you live in our great country?
“I think the complaint is that those issues have been discussed ad nauseum already. Essentially, McCain’s supporters think that he will do well on those issues; his opponents do not trust him.
One major problem with things like ACU ratings is that it’s very easy for politicians to boost their ratings with minimal risk by taking positions that they know will win or lose overwhelmingly. It was, to be sure, very gratifying to see Fred Thompson on the right (albeit losing) side of some 99-1 votes, but what’s actually more important is how a candidate does on the squeakers.
Trying to change the Senate rules so that it would carry out its Constitutionally-mandated advise-and-consent duties was a squeaker where John McCain gave victory to the enemy. Many judicial posts are still unfilled because of his treachery. While it is true that he’s allowed some good judges in, we could likely have gotten them in even without his stabbing us in the back.
Likewise, while John McCain was correct in noting that U.S. strategy was sub-optimal, many of us believe he made those observations not to benefit the U.S., but rather to attack the President. Given that McCain’s proposed strategy would have been even worse, I tend to share in such beliefs.”
I AGREE WITH EVERY DAMN WORD YOU SAID!
The only correction I would add is that the Judicial Filibusters were the change, not the Constitutional (Nuclear) Option.
Never forget the judges left behind by McCain et. al..
“Yes, I have been besieged several times by pro McCain supporters who dont like my tag line.”
The McCain McMinority likes to attack other conservatives rather than talk about John’s record.
How are they supposed to get our votes?
“McCain knows he is disliked. In his CPAC speech he kept talking about coming to you, the listener for counsel. He knows he has a huge divide he must cross.
It will be interesting to see the bridge he can devise to traverse the gap.”
He better hope it’s not a bridge to nowhere.
“Are there any Freepers who support John McCain?”
Yes, I’ll vote for McCain as long he asks someone like Haley Barbour or John Kasich to be his running mate.
“If you believe that speech was in any, shape, or form was sincere, you must have also believed GHWB was sincere when he gave that speech in 1988 pledging no new taxes.”
I believed Bush41 because he did not have a history of backstabbing and had not run a dishonest primary campaign.
I absolutely hear ya...I’m voting for McCain because the alternative is Hitlery or Hussein, and i’m not comfortable with that,to put it mildly.
One thing that many of the “i’m-staying-home-on-election-day-in-protest” crowd is overlooking is that John McCain, while serving as president (if elected, that depends on US!) would have to toe the line with a predominantly republican congress-that is,if we really push hard, vote our heatrs out and get the pubbies back in there. It worked with Bush, and it can work with McCain.Getting into office and wielding your power willy-nilly is two different things.
I will hold my nose, and hope that he at least comes through on spending and getting Capitol Hill to live within its means.
heatrs=hearts
OOPs!
It was the phrase at the bottom that said "I'd rather let the Democrat win that vote for John McCain" that got to me.
I guess it was to subtle for me. Sorry about misunderstanding your intent.
dittos to clemenza.. I will not inflict a democrat on our brave soldiers.. PERIOD.
I will not inflict Obama or Clinton on Iraq, which will certainly become a bloodbath, if we withdraw without stability in that country.
McCain might be alot of things. Coward ain’t one of ‘um. He will be our commander in chief.. gonna have to be enough for me.
I also think that Johnny Mac will listen to the generals instead of the Scoop Jacksonian intellectuals who fudged up the initial stages of the occupation.
