McCain or Bust...Conservatives, will you vote?

Posted on 02/07/2008 12:06:38 PM PST by WiseGuyF686

No articles on here, I apologize. I just wanted to bring a little bit of opinionated discussion in at this point, now that we stand on the brink of setting American back 4-8 years...

The conservative candidates are out of race, and it looks like it's McCain or bust. How many of you will close your eyes and vote for McCrazy over Obama or Hillary, in order to do minimal damage to America over the next preidential term...and how many of you will sit home and watch the sky fall?

Personally, I'll do just about anything to keep the Clintons at bay, including vote for John McCain.

I like the way you think and Mencken, too.

All pure speculation.

Here is some fact, about McCain on earmarks and Federal Spending:

http://www.cagw.org/site/VoteCenter?congress=109&repId=122&session_num=0&page=legScore

Compare that with Hillary. Not even close.

On Iraq, there postions could not be more different.

On 2A, McCain is not perfect, but far, far better than The Beast.

I’m not wild about McCain, but he is far from The Beast on many very important issues to me.

Heck, I might just write in myself for president. I qualify to run.

My biggest worry is that having this liberal run on the Rep. ticket will discourage Republican turnout. Losing seats in the Senate and House along with what’s happening with the Presidency could be disasterous. We need to focus on our Legislators since it is the only way we will keep Socialism in check for the next 4 years.

Live with he putrid rot of you moderate ways.

Oh please! I been here 10 years moron! Yes, I'm a flaming liberal. /sarcasm

The talk that none of the the conservative candidates won the nomination because of some conspiracy is MOON-BATS-VILLE. All conservatives voted. If they had the numbers, THEIR CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE WON. Why on earth do I need to explain that to you?!

You are going to choke on those words in November

Oh really? How is that?

You little name caller you... how cute.

You are not an American. No American would allow Hillary or Obama to become Commaner in Chief of our brave Armed Forces.

Sorry Bubba! Take your sippy cup and go cry on someone else's shoulder and enjoy your homo marriages.

“McCain can’t win.”

Yeah, that really is the bottom line. The numbers just aren’t there. Some Freepers are trying to fool themselves into believing all the same indies/Dims that voted for him in primaries will vote for him in the general. 08 is a lost cause for us, we might as well focus elsewhere.

We have already lost the Presidential election and will need strong conservatives in the legislator to keep the liberal of the month in check.

You're right.

Even if every member and lurker on the board voted for McCain -- even if we all went out and campaigned for him -- he'd lose. McCain got this nomination because many people who voted for him in the primary were dems who took Republican ballots because their votes didn't count (Florida) or moderate independents who usually vote dem. They will not vote for him in the general.

Conservatives knew going into this that if McCain got the Republican nomination, he would not win the Presidency. There just aren't enough broken-glass Republicans to carry the day.

McCain is not a social or economic conservative. With his stands on immigration I'm not even sure he can be called a national security conservative. However, he does realize and acknowledge that we are engaged in a prolonged war against Islamic radicalism. National security and the war on terror are the most important issues facing America today.

McCain is happy to destroy this country with illegal immigrants and their families. Since there is NO way to search the records of millions of people with many false identities, he'll have our troops fighting terrorism in another country, while bringing terrorism into ours. Not only that but our troops will be fighting for a country that no longer exists. I don't see that as looking out for our troops.

What really ticks me off the most is that I never got a chance to even voice an opinion via my state’s primary. We don’t have our primary here in Indiana until May 6. I never had a chance to participate .... an now it’s a done deal?

I totally resent having this thing rammed down my throat. I despise McCain! Heck, by his words he has proven that he despises ME, as well as all those who think the way I do.

Fred was my first choice. I could have managed, fairly easily, to vote for Mitt. None of the others were ever on my ‘possibles’ list. So, right now, I feel lost, abandoned. Hopefully, those feelings will temper a bit. But today, these feelings are fresh and raw with me.

As it stands with me today, I could NEVER vote for McCain. I’m not really sure what I’m gonna do now. My first reaction is to say... sit it out. In the end, I will probably write-in Fred.

Ayup. I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain in order to keep the Hildabeast and/or Obomination from office.

It has to be done now and we can clean up the mess later.

We've been told to hold our noses and vote to keep the Democrats out for the last eight years, and now you're telling me to hold my nose again in order to pick the least offensive Democrat???

There is NO Republican running anymore. All of the current candidates uphold and support the Democrat platform and abhor and denigrate the Republican platform.

Ronald Reagan said that he did not leave the Democrat Party, it left him. Well, this year the Republican Party left me and millions like me.

Holding our noses is equivalent to putting our heads in the sand. All of you Republican kool-aid drinkers who insist that we hold our noses brought us to this point. Instead of blaming Conservatives for allowing Hillary or Obama into the White House, I blame you for caving in and allowing Liberals to take over America.

There are useful idiots in both Parties.

A vote for third party and no vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary/Obama

And so speaking of Hillary.....

....let’s revisit for a moment the spectre of her possible election.

First, the woman DID vote FOR the war in Iraq no mind her speaking out of both sides of her mouth now that the Moonbat wing of her party should vote for her.

Hill knows that her previous administration played fiddle a little too long whilst Rome burned and I’m not convinced the Hill will just up and pull the troops. I think she’d make a better CIC then...well than Obama, for one. I’m not convinced McCain would be better than her because if no one’s mentioned it yet, this man has a horrific temper. He scares people, I’m serious. Yes, the Hill has a temper but McCain makes her look like a piker.

So...supreme court nominees? Well who’s going to be up to retire? Stevens? Ginsberg? Well these two are so liberal already that even if Hill should appoint liberals to replace, how is this worse? Conservative issues are squeaking through now. The Court might not get any better but I’d argue it won’t get worse. Oh, and don’t forget that the fine, even-tempered McCain said he thought Alito wore his conservatism on his sleeve. What the hell does that mean?

Social issues? What...I’ve not seen any amazing passion by McCain on the issue of abortion. Let’s not forget the man voted AGAINST tax cuts ..”for the rich”. He’s got Schwarz...Crist and a bunch of other libs in the tank for him and he’ll owe them. Any diff between the Hill and McCain on these matters is almost null.

Finally, IF Hill beats McCain, the pubbies in congress will have gotten a message. For I think the concept of conservatives across the fruited plains sitting this election out or voting for Micky Mouse will be widely known by the time McCain loses. thus the senators and reps will know the message. Conservatives in this country might not be a majority (although I think they are, far more than the lib media likes to present), we are a damn formidable group and on occasions, like the non-herding cats we are, we get it into our heads that we’ve had enough. A President Hillary would have to plow through that chastised Republican congress.

If conservatives swallow one more time and vote for this totally unpalatable John McCain, he of the fine even temper, this country will go liberal and will never go back.
John McCain and his so-called Republican enablers, helped by the libs who would rather have had the Hill but can live with McCain, will be emboldened as never before.

It’s my argument and I’m sticking to it.

I’ll vote for whoever the Republican nominee is. My loyalty is first to my country, and Billary/Obama will be a disaster that will take decades to recover from. We just got an email from a family member in Iraq, and he pointed out that pay and benefits for the military have increased 30% during President Bush’s term. All military spending had been cut dramatically during the Clinton years. We can’t let that happen again. For that reason alone I’m voting Republican.

Welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, WIC, ect... Just a few, and this list doesn’t include your state and local socialism.

Add it up. Half of what you and I make goes to the government. We aren’t arguing over socialism or no socialism, it’s just how much?

Yeah, I’m tired of being Charlie Brown to Lucy’s football and having it snatched out from under me busting my ass wide open every time. I’m again being asked to ignore the evidence of my lying eyes and trust yet another liberal phony in Republican clothing. This tired old Washington dinosaur fart isn’t going to change his stripes this late in the game when lying and betraying his own have served him so well. The chumps and suckers who continue to get lured into voting for a questionable Republican who breaks campaign promises and betrays his principles is why we have rotten liberal bums dominating the Republican’t Party. The more voters that ditch their principles and swallow another liberal turd, the more the RINO infested establishment serves more up.
