Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

LOL my grandparents had I Like Ike buttons that they had saved. I think I still have one that they gave me.
He should do that over and over until Mad John loses it.
Regards
He only did that after Sean said he wanted Hillary 'cause we could beat her much easier...Mitt is now Sean's pick. Alan has always been for Hillary. So, he thought he was getting even with Sean by saying that.
90% of the libs claim they love McCain, 'course that is until he is the GOP candidate...then the love affair is over.
Would Regan endorse me?
In the general election, ceratinly. But in the primary? Any ex-president who endorses one candidate in the primary and takes cheap shots at another shows a lack of class.
But valid.
He is a real runner as we discussed. He was given far to little time based on his results. Paul got nearly as much time and registers in low single digits.
But I pray he will quit and give Romney a chance. Though I really believe he supports McCain and talks the way he does just to get elected/(hurt Romney now?).
Historically, non governor candidates, are either not successful in their term of office never finishing it. They die in office.
GET A GRIP PEOPLE!!! Are you SERIOUS about putting the Clintons back in the WH???
I am sick of these temper tantrums on this thread. This is the same crap that happened in 2006 when you all stayed home. How’s that workin’ for us???
McCain is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO far from perfect but he will keep us safe. Hillary will send the blue helmets to “protect” us while she is sanding all our military secrets to the Chinese.
Meanwhile, everybody quite bitching and get out there do what you can to support whoever is left that you can stomach.
PS. I am in it for Rommney since Fred left.
We need to find a way to keep Paul, if not in the race as a candidate, he should have a voice to impress upon the still involved candidates that such basic ideas as the reverence for and adherence to the Constiution by government is a non-negotiable issue for many conservatives...and if thet want our support tey had better bring their polcies in line with conservatism.
Then I was giving you credit for my insight.:o)
I had never thought about that angle before. I see McCain in a very negative light and his age and health will be factored in. But it occurs to me that he could use those injuries to benefit his image.
Mccain voted against the tax cuts to spite the president. He is a very petty man.
David Palmer was the black President for several seasons on '24'.
If we can’t get behind Romney and let McCain get the nomination, Hillary or Obama are going to take it. You have no idea of the people out there who can’t stomach McCain or who will not vote for him.
McCain has been so far supported by moderates and the left....enough said.
That was not my point. I was simply giving my opinion as to why I think McCain will beat Hillary.
I support Romney now that Fred is out.
LOL
You guys are getting to me with this Ike stuff. My 18th BD was election day that year so my Mom, who was a poll worker, took us on the bus so I could register beforehand and vote that day. We had no car. Then as luck would have it, he came to our town. On the bus we went again, my Mom so excited. A man took a picture of Ike waving and gave it to us. It's still in my old Bible I got when the folks died.
Not sure I agree with you. Many in the Left are stupid enough to hate McCain. Stupid because a McCain victory would be the best thing that ever happened to them (and the worst thing that ever happened to Republicans).
Both Kerry and McCain are dishonest and dishonorable and neither one will ever be president.
Arnold wants the old fool to be nominated to guarantee a democrat victory.
