Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

You are so right.
Now that it didn’t work they will nt cover the debate. Most of the time they talked about the Democrats running instead of doing debate analysis like every other debate. Now King is running a Regan I knew segment.
Last night when McCain won they ran coverage till 2:00 AM eastern now Romney wins and they cover it for half an hour.
I can NOT believe McInsain will get away with calling black white and telling Romney what Romney meant in his statement back in April a statement McInsain had no problem with until two days befor the most important election of this season.
Ironic, since the best outcome for Democrats would be a McCain victory.
With defense attorneys standing by, no doubt :-/
Oh my....I did not hear that. These guys are really scared of Romney.
Kyl and McCain are in the same club. I would expect no less from him. I am sure John Kerry would have written the same letter.
But maybe, God willing, we won’t have to make that choice.

I keep praying, jonny ... ;)
I have seen a couple of political cartoons with all the Republican candidates, showing McCain with a golf ball size lump on his cheek.
I have heard some of his supporters claim that McCain is only going for 4 years, as though we owe him that much. He could win the nomination and drop dead before the inauguration, then again, he could live for all eight. Nasty people never seem die.
Me too, my friend :)
You can bet your sweet [expletive] that the DNC has one. It will be shown free on every news network beginning the day McCain accepts the GOP nomination all the way through election day.
He was kind of mumbling, we had to play it back about three times. I think that he realized that he was more or less thinking out loud.
Think I will write in George W. Bush!
The following interview he expanded again, and layed out his plan for Iraq. much the same as is currently going on, with force reductions if the surge had worked. And more Iraqi responsibility as we move out, but tied to conditions with no withdrawal dates certain
I sent the Link to you for your perusal.
Best idea I’ve heard yet! :D
I am going to go vote tomorrow and I will vote for Romney! I am anxious to see how Tennessee votes. Tomorrow of course is early voting but its better than waiting until Tuesday and the crowds.
America has survived many historic challenges, through determination and perseverance. That is what conservatism is all about.
As an American, we can choose to face our challenges, or we can choose to run and hide. The decision is yours.
God bless you, jaycee :)
I'd probably be dead. Are you suggesting that McCain's ill health can be used as an asset?
The timetables would be private until the appeared on the front page of the New York Times.”
LOL
They always say that after every debate, and yet he loses. Again, and again.
I somehow doubt the focus groups are really accurate unfortunately.
