Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

thanks!
LOL...yes they do seem to be trying to cover his arse. He looked and sounded miserable tonight.
That was because of this
“Every time I look at McCain I think about playing a game of Solitaire..”
and the MitttNittWitts are always saying how good Romney looks oooo swoon
LOL
Decay. Physical, mental, and moral. He's completely unfit for employment, any employment, yet we're supposed to make him President and Leader of the Free World???
See post # 2141
Yep. the FL exit polling data indicates Mitt prevailed among conservatives and Republicans.
2000 is eight years ago, and tons of political sellouts by McCain, including amnesty.
He was commenting on how great debates and political ads were in the US. He was in the room with Frank Luntz - if he was asked questions before I tuned in, I missed it.
"Why vote for McCain when all of his legislation could be signed in an Obama White House anyway?"
I believe you’re probably on the right track.
Bush really screwed up when he said his justice department wasn’t going to check into Clinton’s deeds. He left it wide open for him to trot around like he was the high school prom king for the rest of his life.
And then to appoint him to a figurehead position... geez.
Thanks for making my night!
Ditto here in NY.
RINO's of a feather flock.....
Where does Luntz get these voters??
lol From Olympia Snows constituency
Missed it. Was it on Hannity & Colmes? Maybe I can catch the repeat.
Melanoma cancer. A killer type of cancer. It nearly always comes back, even after remission.
We are about an hour behind, so the debate is not over, but McCain sounds like one of the seniors from our old homeowner association, convinced that their age and former experience qualifies them to run the homeowners’ assoc.
In other words, McCain has made a fool of himself tonight.
Now CNN instead of talking about the debate is contemplating the democrats with Edwards dropping out?
As long as Huckabee takes votes away it can be McCain/Hitler. He needs another 4-5 percent.
Do you mean they are picking out certain quotes and not using his whole statment and in what context they were made? I don't hate McCain...hate is a strong word. He is however...an arrogant jerk. And a RINO backstabber. Oh...and a liar.
