Reagan Library Republican Presidential Debate: January 30, 2008
SIMI VALLEY, California (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls will face off Wednesday night without a familiar face as ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to drop out and endorse front-runner Sen. John McCain.
The remaining candidates will take the stage in a debate -- sponsored by CNN, the Los Angeles Times and Politico -- beginning at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday.
The event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, follows McCain's Tuesday night win in the Florida primary.
McCain topped former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 36 percent to 31 percent in the hotly contested race.
Giuliani placed third with 15 percent of the vote, followed closely by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee with 14 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul of Texas was fifth with 3 percent.
Giuliani is expected to end his White House bid and endorse McCain at a campaign event in California later Wednesday, Republican Party sources said.
Minus Giuliani, the debate will be a four-candidate affair -- McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Paul -- with CNN's Anderson Cooper moderating.

I thought that Ron Paul gave some really intelligent answers when and at the very little time he had to speak.
The Huckster even did well as did Romney,
John McCain seemed to telegraph that he is above the fray sort of like Hellary Clinton.
McCain seemed to eager to tear Romney apart on the most insignificant statements.
Gawd almighty this whole primary process excludes all of flyover country and that is where most of the base is located.
To tell you the truth I do not trust the judgment of Republicans who live in Floriduh.
sKerry served in Vietnam.
McKain was foot soldier in Reagan Revolution
Every time I look at Romney I think hed look good in prison stripes

Now, that’s just plain mean and
below the belt, especially for
a nana.
LOL...almost makes one wish for Bob Dole again...
He could carry the South he nominated a VP who has "street creds" in the South.
I have the feeling Reagan would have had too much class to get down in the mud with the likes of Carter/Clinton if he were still around and healthy.
We would have never seen G.H.W Bush after office again either if his son weren’t being so visciously attacked as President.
NOTA
ROTFLMAO oh my gawd hilarious.
I caught the last part of the Luntz group. What did they say about McCain?
I agree.

John McCain, R-Ariz., one of the most stalwart supporters of the war in Iraq, said Thursday that he might propose that the Iraqi government meet certain benchmarks for the United States to continue its engagement. Fellow senators and independent political scientists said McCain's thinking reflected growing concerns within the Republican Party about the course of the war, and also might mark a turning point for the likely 2008 presidential contender, whose previous unconditional backing of the war may have hurt his prospects. McCain said Thursday that he hadn't yet decided on precise benchmarks. "They'd have to be specific, and... |
Not flattery. For being the only one that understood Reagan's success. Not policy. Romney said that cut and run Reagan would try to win the war. Hmmmm. Not necessarily.
Yep.
I'm throwing my vote away for Paul too. It's time to take a stand against liberals, whether Democrats or Republicans, and take this country back. It's amazing how so-called conservatives and Republicans can't see this. It won't make much of a difference whether the next president is Romney, McCain (shiver), or one of the other two from the Dems. The result will be more or less the same.
I'm voting for Ron Paul, the only candidate who is offering real pro-American policies. Sadly, the morons of this country will always prevent the election of real conservatives and will continually aid in this awful slide towards socialism and mediocrity. I think nothing short of another revolution will ever stop it.
By which Clinton meant higher taxes as I recall.
Well...isn’t that interesting?
Lighten up Francis-Happy Birthday
That is what I told my wife tonight. It has got to the point where I can’t stand the man. Tonight just reinforced my decision. I will vote for the other good Republican candidates and the other issues but will not pull the lever for McQueeg.
LOL...I know...but glad he didn't!
