This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:
"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of Americas industrial base."
"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

a bunch of trapped animals trying to find a way out I believe there was at least one animal trapped by a young Huckabee. And Fido did not find a way out.

...Huckabee will get all of Hunters two supporters now.... You know, I like what you said. And you may be right by the way.
What I don't understand is all this bellyaching from people who gave Duncan the cold shoulder to begin with. It's hilarious so them besides themselves in disbelief! LOL
Some even imply Duncan and FT were the 'only two conservatives left.' Lol.
HINT: Duncan is very different from FT!... For same reason FT Heads never gave Duncan a second look.... and now somehow they feel 'betrayed!' LOL

As I said at
Post #525
At this point, no matter who Duncan Hunter endorsed, a large contingent of Freepers would be going WTF????? Rudy, Mitt, Huckabee, Paul, McCain, Keyes, whoever... it would be a large amount of griping from people who didn't receive Duncan's blessing for their personal choice of candidate.
As far as I'm concerned, Keyes would be the only endorsement that would line up the best with Hunter's political viewpoint. Both Hunter and Keyes have been royally screwed out of the nomination process via lack of media attention and especially in the debate process. Choosing any of the other candidates would have Freepers creaming their shorts. Choosing Keyes would have Freepers creaming their shorts. At this stage, there is nothing Duncan could have done, other than no endorsement at all, that would satisfy most Freepers here.

I would not consider promoting fair trade, protecting American technology, and maintaining a domestic industrial capacity are protectionist. They are essential components of national security and are common sense.

Great organization and planning by the GOP. Makes me wonder if this was planned all along. Actually, put me down for saying that, at least that might make some sense of this chaos! You're not the only one to "wonder" about this or come to similar conclusions. I agree with your thoughts. To what other conclusions can a sane person reach?

Going to look , sometimes the issues are right, how you come across needs to be worked on..I think thats what his problem is..

"Some of the Fred and Paul people tried to inform the Duncan Hunter fans that maybe he was a bit TOO protectionist from a trade standpoint and his actual voting record revealed some flaws."
True, but nobody listened.

Pro-life,gun,family arent minor issues to the Republican base!
Based on the posts here they are.
The secular hallelujah chorus coming from the Thompson's no churchgoer thread, and all the Mitt-love here--and the Elmer Gantry comparisons to Huckabee, all make me think that the majority of FR has been infected with the knee-jerk anti public Christian expression crowd. The consensus here is that you can pray and read your Bible in private, but don't dare do it in public or mention you do. Such things have become unAmerican.

You know how all the recent Presidents or their wives have put out books about the White House pets? The one from the Huckabees would be “interesting”, shall we say...

Today has been one HECK of a roller coaster ride.
I hate roller coasters!
Nevertheless. I trust Duncan Hunter as well. I still won't vote for Huckabee though.

I’m truly sorry that I contributed to his campaign.
This is RAPE !!

To: silentreignofheroes
I think part of it is he’s trying too much to get too much said, doesn’t have the venue to spend the time properly saying it and made the decision (unwisely) to just state a portion of it (whether because of time alloted or being cut off by the liberal media). He’s put himself into the position of allowing himself to be taken out of context. That’s ultimately, imo, made him vulnerable to more attacks than he’d have had anyways.
To: LibLieSlayer
Same here. That was despicable.

Fido found a way out alright, at the end of the pudgy son of a hucks rope.
Hunter must be daft. He thinks Huckster pressuring folks to not prosecute Hucks son is integrity?
No, it’s insanity. Plus, this is mean too, Hucks wife reminds me of Ma Kettle. No wonder they eat popped squirrel.
Sorry, I had to say it.
