Fox News ^

Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

Would any conservative still interested in the 2008 election please reply back to me and tell me which of the remaining candidates is the least shitty?

Here is an intesting little straw poll from the hometown of John McCain that took place yesterday (21Jan2008):

The Maricopa County Republican Party met today and gave an indication of who the party faithful is supporting as the Republican nominee. Here are the results out of 721 ballots cast: Overall Votes (662 Votes): #1 - Mitt Romney - 28.4% (188) #2 - Fred Thomson - 18.3% (121) #3 - Ron Paul - 17.4% (115) #4 - Duncan Hunter - 14.0% (93) #5 - John McCain - 12.1% (80) #6 - Rudy Giuliani - 5.0% (33) #7 - Mike Huckabee - 4.8% (32)

Being from Arizona, I agree. I prefer Mitt by far to McCain.

Huck on MSNBC now, trashing Thompson, good grief, the liberal host slobbering over him.

Barf alert.

Well, moving down the list--who's next? Amazingly, the best options for conservatives appear to be John McCain (gag) or Ron Paul (double gag).

Supporting an unabashed liberal like Gungrabiani or a crypto-lib like RomneyCare is simply unthinkable for me. If it's one of those two, there will be a 3rd party run by someone...

Fred’s withdrawal represents a crushing blow to America. Not enough of my countrymen care enough about freedom or federalism anymore. We are in the throes of collapse. I hope I don’t live to see it come to fruition fully. Of the candidates left, I support none. They all are sucky greens and socialists, WORSE than Pres. Bush. I will write in Fred in Pa. on Apr. 22. Bob

I think with Thompson dropping out, you’ll see Romney’s poll numbers in FL tick up.

That is how the Clinton’s came to power in the first place. Does Ross Perot ring a bell?

Damn right. I’m telling anyone that will listen - RINO’s are bad - but socialism is worse. Just remember that.

Guess it’s Mitt. First and second choices have dropped. Mitt is third and last choice for me.

Romney is the BEST remaining choice, by far. Any of the people here that say they’ll sit out instead of voting for Romney are, by DEFAULT, voting for hitlery and I consider that treasonous to our party!! Now, by God, get out there and support Romney so we don’t see obama, clinton, huckabee or mcpain in office for 08!!!!!!

As a Romney supporter, I will say that you and all other Fred supporters will be welcomed.

Fred is a good guy, and I have a lot of respect for the man and his supporters. I would also encourage supporters of my guy or all the other candidates to be respectful. None of us can ever predict the future, and I know it can be hard to put your heart into something and not get it.

Just know Fred heads that we are your allies, we are your friends, and that you have our respect. So take your moment to vent and reconcile, but we are saving a place at the table for you.

No flames, you are spot on! I’m very disappointed, but will *never* stay home. Our primary is on the 5th, I’ll vote for Romney. McCain is barely half a notch above Hillary.

Fred didn’t have the heart to keep going even before his mother fell ill. Since his less than dynamic entrance into this race while he is a nice man and a good conservative he is a lousy campaigner.

Sigh. Guilanni beats McCain, but it’s the way that a pair of 3s beats a pair of 2s.

Check out my bio. I have been here a long long time and been a Bush fan for over 20 years. I just know that between who we have left running we have to pull together for Romney and get his support up strong. We need to send money, we need to knock doors, we need to make calls.

Romney is a good man, No, he is not Reagan but he is a man who has honor and will guide us into a victory. We can’t sit at home and we have to become PROACTIVE.
