Check off another one from my preference list.

You have Huckabee ahead of Fidel Castro? We'd get the same government, but at least we'd be allowed to smoke cigars without being arrested.

There is no need for this. Failed campaigns hurt. Rubbing it in does not help whoever your candidate it.

I have been backing Romney for some time. I hope the Romney people are kind to the Thompson folks, whose support will be welcomed.

Ah, a mature person. Thanks. Though I think Romney is, uh, suboptimal, he is the least suboptimal of the 4 remaining. He's infinitely better than Monica's boyfriend's wife, so he'll get my support.

There are a few Freepers who need to get away from this Web site for a while and experience the real world.

Fred was NEVER in the race folks.

The new GOP is to be known forevermore as GOPL - very true (might have to change my tagline for the next eight years - don't want a visit!)

he is about as good on border security as he is on hearing questions in debates

Still better than the other GOP candidates.

How's Thompson's fundraising going? :-)

Don't forget, it was Karl Kameron who broke the GWB DUI story in 2000, right before the election (google for references)!!!!

He would have been better than any of your other “heart in the race” candidates who only care about power.

Thompson cared about the country - not power.

apparently not. People that sit out 2008 deserve what they get....I don’t want to hear any bitching and moaning from people that sat on their butts and let Hillary or Obama get voted in.

Sorry...mad as hell.

you said (I think this will help Romney..)

I told my husband this morning that I thought that Fred being in the race was helping McCain. I doubt seriously that it was his intent - and he got out, which should help Romney. .

Rush said while ago that his brother, David, wrote a glowing endorsement of Fred Thompson just ten days ago, and ten days later he quit the race. He said further (tongue in cheek sort of) that he now wished that David would write such articles about Huckabee and McCain. (HOW COULD RUSH BE ANY CLEARER?)

Not that Rush tells me how to vote, but compromising conservative principless just to beat Hillary or Obama and electing RINO’s is out for me. I’ll have to support Romney if something doesn’t change drastically (like some miracle candidate coming out of the woodwork).

“I think the States that had early Primaries, and allowed Independents to vote for a Republican nominee are to blame for this.”

100% True, its time to clean house at the local level and work our way up.

Yep, Rudy’s a bit of a thug, but Mitt is oily.

Best thing now is for a flare in support for Rudy. Rudy at least was wildly more successful as mayor of NYC than Romney was as governor of MA. Best of all worlds might well be a brokered convention, and that best happens if Rudy is at the table, while McCain is stalled. I don’t vote until Super Duperdom, but I think I’m leaning in Rudy’s direction about now.

I do, too. I’ll vote for Romney. He is much better than McCainiac or the Huckster. Giuliani is completely unacceptble.

From your lips to God’s ears.

I have a theory, no matter who the Republican nominee is, once the first debate takes place and the Clintoon attack machine is in full force, the GOP will pull together for the the most part. When it truly sinks in that Hillary could actually become the CIC, the party faithful will rally.

I can’t STAND McCain, but Hillary had one thing right in the debate last night. She said, (after they all touted that their are polls that show that they could all beat McCain in a head to head) “If John McCain is the nominee the debate will turn to the WOT.”

As much as I can’t stand McCain, it would be hilarious to watch him wipe the floor with her on National Security.

Well, Hunter is out,

It maybe too soon to make that conclusion if GOP voters are too fractured for any candidate to get enough delegates(1191) going into the Convention to be a nominee. Then there will be a brokered convention and anything can happen.

If Fred couldn’t get votes on his own, how could his teaming-up with Romney push Romney over the top? I don’t follow your reasoning.
