Sen. John McCain won Saturday's South Carolina Republican presidential primary, AP projects.
Fox News and NBC News exit polls ranked the economy as the top concern among South Carolina primary voters, followed by illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, and terrorism.
Columnist and Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol commenting on Saturday's results on the Fox News Channel said that the Republican field is now winnowing down to just three viable candidates: McCain, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani.
Public opinion polls...I would not completely discount them. But, I also would not take them too seriously...
Sure, the poll now shows that McCain would beat Hillary. But, the election is in November.
But, after a barrage of attacks by Hillary, how many would still support McCain? Many people could change their minds.
Many years ago, a liberal GOP congressman Tom Campbell ran against CA Senator Barbara Boxer...
He lost...He and Boxer agreed on many issues like abortion and environment...
I will never, ever, ever, never vote for McCain!!!
Not ever!

Mr. Kristol's kristol ball is clouded.
If "viable" means going all the way to the convention, there are at least four, maybe five if you include Thompson.
If his crystal ball says one of the three mentioned will win a majority of delegates after SuperDuper Tuesday, he needs to send it back to the Chinese factory that made it and ask for a refund.
No candidate in the race tonight, 20 Jan 2008, has enough momentum to propel him into undisputed first place after February 5 primaries are held unless one or more of the aforementioned three drops out.
There's slim chance of that, but stranger things have happened.
Is that ALL BUT Mc Qain now?
I would lean to that stance since i don’t like traitors.
Did the dems vote in this Republican primary in SC?
The answer is decisive to really understand what’s happening and how to handle the results of that primary in SC
ashamed of PUB voters.....ashamed.....
Thought the web could bypass MSM ?
Hehehe
Come Now! Vote for Williard Mitty! He didn't mean that Abortion thing! Or that Tax thing! Or anything else you don't like. Look us in the eye. Say it with us! YES! - you wan't him to be President! Come on! Let us in your house (and show us your checkbook and underwear) - we will show you.
Hey man.....so....what? Chu no like Jon McCain? What yur problem man? You got sumthing in that jacket man? Listen man....McCain give me Amnesy man.....chu no like that? I'll F_ck you up man! #$^*^% You %^$%$#$!!!!!
Waz the matta with Huckabee? SHAAAZAM!
McCain would probably appoint slightly better judges for Amerexico courts than would Clinton or Obama.
Then we're DOOMED.
Florida democrats have been stripped of delegates. They are registering to vote in the primaries as Republicans. Even my idiot liberal bro-in-law said he's voting for McCain.
This "plan" was determined years ago...the Hildebeast will be queen.
Rush kept saying “wait till we get a state with real republicans” in his theories on media predictions. I guess SC got over their immigration anger.
I didn't know it was a Democrat primary?
This is larger than that. This is about policies. Most of McCain's policies are liberal. Global warming, amnesty, judges..........
The media *WILL* paint McCain as a conservative as he passes liberal legislation that ruin the country.
Conservatism won't have another shot at higher office. Reaganism will officially be dead.
That's why if McCain gets the nod, he won't get my vote. And any sane conservative should do the same. In all technicality, you'll still be voting democrat.
Which leads me to a question: if the ECONOMY is really the number one issue on voters’ minds, why haven’t Romney and Huckabee done better?
When is the drive bys going to ask when Rudy will withdraw? I know I won’t vote for him
Nor will I vote for the 72 year old AMNESTY man. Just to old for me.
