I’m not into teaching lessons, I’m also not into voting for scumbags. If the GOP can’t give me a good candidate in November then they shouldn’t expect my vote. Don’t blame the voters if the “wrong” side wins, that’s how Dems think, blame the “right” side for being unwilling to put forth quality candidates.
Yup, and it makes me sick. First time in my adult life I might skip a major election. I'm not going to vote to coronate one of the RINOs that I know from enough preexisting evidence will shrivel our party's fortunes even further nationwide. If we're going to elect a liberal, let them be a Democrat, we'll at least regain Congress (one or both bodies) by 2010. Elect Huckster or Joe Isuzu Romney, we won't get back Congress until 2050.
Are you really expecting Chief Justice Roberts to keel over or retire before Ginsburg? He was confirmed by the Senate, and will keep his position until retirement or death, so it’s rather doubtful the next president will have the opportunity to choose a new chief justice.
The Republican party has only reason to exist as long as it remains a Conservative one. In states where the elites decided they didn’t want a Conservative GOP, the party is dead. It’s no surprise one of those elites happens to be Joe Isuzu Romney and he is going to work his magic nationwide what he did in MA in marching the party into Boston Harbor wearing cement galoshes. Ditto Huckster, who buried the AR GOP. There’s nothing to vote for if the nominee isn’t Fred or Hunter. The rodents are getting their liberal, I’m not helping our party get one, too.

What plan have you come up with to regain your own respect this time around that doesn't turn power over to your worst enemy the Democrats? We are all ears awaiting the wisdom that is to keep your self respect intact. :-)
Keeping Democrats out of power should give you endless amounts of self respect IMO.
Not voting for ANY of the clowns who will not respect our sovereignty. Let the RATS be the ones to initiate the 3rd world.
I will NOT vote for these people and I will not feel bad about it. all the posturing now from pro illegal liars, is just that, lies.

Coming home from a lovely lunch today, I stopped and purchased an alligator pear to add in a salad tomorrow to share with some guests. I saw your photo on your homepage. At that point I tossed the alligator pear in the garbage.
No problem, this has been an interesting conversation. :) One thing, though, I want to make clear. When you said "The problem with that logic, is that it didn't hold true after Carter."
From my point of view, it did hold true after Carter. Reagan stayed in the party, and he was nominated. What if Reagan had bolted? President Howard Baker or John Anderson? No way that would've happened. Who was running against Reagan for the 1980 nod? Certainly not ANY conservative who had the cajones he had!
I know passions run deep about keeping the party conservative. I share them, too. I just hope we don't become so fractious that we begin to resemble the Democrats of the 1980s: all pissed at each other because no one is "perfect".
None of the candidates is perfect. Even our Hero #40 gave us amnesty for illegals, Sandra Day O'Worthless and Anthony "Swing Vote" Kennedy. I don't say it to denigrate him, I only say it as a reminder that we're all flawed.
The Democrats hated what Clinton did in signing welfare reform (after a long fight) and they especially hated his support of NAFTA. But they also knew he was their champion and voted for him overwhelmingly.
Anyway, this has been a good conversation. Take it easy, and let's hope the more conservative candidate wins this November. :)

All that buys us is a slippery-slope to increased liberalism.
Keeping liberal republicans out of office has become equally important. This is done by not voing for them.
If it means that a D is elected, then the results of that will get dealt with even if it means coming down to a shooting war, but a liberal republican is taking us there almost as fast.
Does this election make you want to buy more guns and ammo so you can be prepared when it finally does hit the fan?

I will sleep in on election day if either one of these is the nominee. Better to be in the loyal opposition and fight to take back Congress in 2010.

An election has never filled me with this much panic before.
Anyone who honestly supports our military and the WOT would never stab our troops in the back by voting for anyone other than the Republican candidate. Those who want perfection in their candidates are living in la-la land because there IS no perfect candidate. That has been well proven on this forum. Even the most conservative people here and elsewhere can’t agree on the best candidate at this point in time. But one of our Republican candidates IS going to be on the ticket and anyone who wants to stomp off and “teach the GOP a lesson” by not voting for the Republican candidate are no better than the Dem/libs. Why? Because they, like them, will have proven that they stopped caring about what was BEST for our country and have put their personal agendas/issues above all else.
I’ve heard people say, “voting for the lesser of two evils, is still evil”. That’s such a lame and ridiculous excuse for voting third party, write-ins, or not voting at all. Why don’t those people understand that what we need to be voting for on election day is the BETTER of the two candidates. And anyone who has an ounce of conservatism in their blood, and an ounce of concern for this country and our military, WILL vote Republican on election day.
If we sit at home and don’t vote we do not teach the GOP any lesson, we just start losing more seats in congress and senate, much less the white house. So he gains? It is our duty to vote, some of you let us down in the last elections and look at all the dims who gained seats!!!
The trouble with come AFTER the election.
I fear that the demographics are shifting such that the GOP will no longer be able to hold a majority. This is the result of unchecked immigration.
