You said earlier that being a Christian is not your only criteria, but this argument belies that. In 1979 a man came onto the scene while I was in Christian College who a lot wondered if he was a Christian. His speech did not match the test they had. They were ready to ignore the man.

I’m so glad things turned around. That man was Ronald Reagan and as things turned out LATER, I believe he was a Christian and that we will meet in Heaven one day. I have a very good friend that is in the LDS church. When I questioned her on her beliefs (and I know what to ask having extensive dealings with LDS in the past), in my falable human judgement, I would say her belief sure matched up with the Gospel. Ditto for another who is Catholic (I know many that believe Catholocism a cult.)

I think I have to go with a “What Would Jesus Do” attitude here. I may be supporting the man you think not Christian, but his policy is the most Christian I see.

You are wrong about one thing. There is a second man in the race for you to consider since you agree that Governor Huckabee fails the political matters: Duncan Hunter.

Bottom line: any belief that is not Christian is a cult. True or false?

I’m an agnostic. I don’t have a dog in this fight. I’m just trying to define the terms.

We will be at CPAC for one day. I think we will need to coordinate to get all of the people together that I want to!

I just saw the Laura Ingraham thing on Fox. Yea, scary thought, but I guess I’m not excited about any of the Republican candidates this time around. But, it is worrisome.

As an aside, I changed my registration to Dem so I can vote against ‘HER’ in the Primary because I am not excited with any of the Republican candidates.

Stupid thing to do here probably but I don’t really care at this point, I am voting for Obama in the primary here in Pa because I don’t wish to split that ticket anymore than Paul will split the Republican ticket...

We hope to see you at CPAC, and if there is a storm on your way down, feel free to stop at our place in Pa...

I’m off to bed now.

You said — “So are you saying that Fred’s baptism into Christ didn’t “take”? Wow.”

What I’m saying is that Thompson doesn’t even know what the “good news” of the Gospel is. And if he doesn’t know that, it’s impossible for him to be (even) able to choose what God has provided for him (Thompson) as a free gift...

You can’t choose what you have no idea about. And Thompson has no idea...

Yes! I'm praying for Hillary to come in third!

Well, she did come in third, but I sure wish it was a more distant third... she's practically tied with Edwards.

As I’ve said all along, I don’t even get down to the political matters with any candidate unless they pass my *first criteria* of being a Christian.

I agree, not because I'm a bigot, but because a Christian has a God centered worldview. That helps me understand the basis for a Christian candidate's reasoning on current and future issues. On issues of the most critical importance, like abortion, we can trust a Christian's reasoning because we know that he knows that he has to answer to God. We can also make an appeal to a Christian magistrate, who may be wrong, on issues like security, immigration or taxes, on a biblical basis and know that the Christian, if he is a true Christian, must take heed.

Jesus Christ, on "identity politics":
Mark 8:38
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Luke 9:26
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

You know what I'm talking about. It's too late to be teaching Politics 101 to die-hards with blinders and ear plugs securely fastened.

You said — “I did think that the win by Huckabee might have the effect of making the evangelical wing of the Republican party get a little more respect. I am part of that wing, though not a Huckabee supporter.”

And, you know..., I’m not a Huckabee supporter either. By that I basically mean I never knew very much about him before, I didn’t promote him and I didn’t really think too much about him. However, it is clear that he’s a Christian. That much I did know (as opposed to Thompson, who appears to me to not be a Christian).

But, now that Huckabee has won bigtime, it’s time for me to pay more attention to him.

And, in regards to the GOP (a certain segment of it) giving more respect to the Evangelicals — well..., they better or else there’s going to be a “trainwreck” of the GOP which the GOP will never recover from. It will wreck and destroy the party.

It’s time for the Evangelicals to start running more of the GOP and start getting some payback for the votes...

Then after seeing that a candidate is Christian (which would have to be someone other than Thompson), then one can get into the political matters...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well lets hope you find your perfect candidate this side of heaven. I have written a request into several campaigns to do some digital manipulation in their paid political advertisements on TV,showing various candidates walking on water, turning water into wine, and conducting immaculate conceptive exercises like Slick Willy.

There no end to this crap once it gets started.

I agree. Tancredo is an outstanding conservative.

So is Duncan Hunter - and he is still in the race.

Also, I agree with your desire to reduce the size of the government.

I am so completely, utterly SICK TO DEATH of religion, "christian issues" and abortion being the be-all, end-all issues that have completely splintered this party.

Hey, I hate abortion too! Lets end it once and for all so that it is never an issue again in another election. OK?

You know what? I don't like it either. That's why I want a CONSERVATIVE elected president. Please note: I said CONSERVATIVE. That does not specify that said conservative must be christian, jewish, LDS, or church-of-the-month. It means CONSERVATIVE.

I also think people who decide on a candidate because of a single issue are dangerous in any party.

I would love to do that...vote against she who must not be namedf...

But here in TN we have to ask for a D or an R ballot for the primary and then forever more the record of your party vote is public property...

The big drawer back is that to hold a Republican office in the party or to run for a seat, or to be a delegate to a convention at any level, county, state etc or to be a precenct captain etc etc you have to have a clean record of only voting Republican...

I have already given prayer of gratitude!

There's just something negative about coming in third - don't care if it is 1/1,000,000 of a point - it is still third. LOL!

It also is worrisome that the Rats got 250,000 votes whereas with 93% of the GOP precincts in the GOP looks to fall just short of half of that. True, the Rats have tended to have higher caucus turnout with the general election being closer, but that’s a big gap to close. in what had been a purple state.

You said — “Mormons have been serving in our military for generations, many making the ultimate sacrifice for our country. That’s enough to make them good fellow citizens as far as anyone should be concerned.”

I don’t care if they serve in the military, or are my neighbors, or are my coworkers. That’s fine. I’ve never said that they are criminals or liberals (oh my!) or were anything like the Islamics (who are *real whackos*). No, not at all.

What they are (as a religious group) is a *cult group* — a “non-Christian cult group” — and that is by *definition* from basic, historic and foundational Christianity. Nothing will change that, because they are *so radically different* in their teachings and doctrines that it is *totally unrecognizable* as anything to do with Christianity.

And since I have as a *first criteria* for a candidate — to be a Christian — that means I never vote for a cult group member, never an Islamic, never a Buddhist, never *anybody* — other than a Christian.

It’s a really simple proposition and doesn’t cause me any headaches in the least.....

Star Traveler
