Free Speech is really a hard row to hoe isn't it. If they take free speech out of context , thats their loss. I certainly have very little interest in censoring myself by imagining a DU mavin is looking over my shoulder every time I post.My post was innocuous and about history, nothing more or less than that.

You are correct!

Quite an upset if I remember correctly.

I agree, Ingtar. See my post #2535. This guy is a disgrace to true evangelical Christians.

Rush is saying the same thing he has been saying for months.

He asked 2 months ago “What happens if Huck wins Iowa?” He saw it coming.

The race is wide open and fluid. Just like the weather in Florida...if you don’t like it, just wait 15 minutes and it will change.

The Denver Broncos were leading the Redskins 10-0 in Super Bowl XXII and they lost 42-10. This is not over by a longshot. That was his point.

You said — “No. It is not hard to understand. Your position is that any religious group that is not Christian is, by your definition, a cult. Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, all cults. I was just clarifying that.”

Okay, if you’re just clarifying that from a Christian standpoint, that’s fine. I’ve always said that before, anyway.

The other thing to get clear on this issue is that we’re not talking about “private definitions” here. I’m referring to what is considered “Christian” — across the board — from many different groups who cross denominational lines. We’re not talking about from one single group and that’s where the definitions come from; we’re not talking about something that originated just recently but rather has been recognized over the centuries.

So, what we’re talking about in terms of definitions for Christianity (where the boundaries are and who is “in” and who is “out”) — it’s been boiled down to the basics and is agreed upon across the board with many denominations. It’s something from basic, historic and foundational Christianity.

Whereas there are differences in denominations in terms of worship practices, style, traditions, and other matters, when it comes to the essence of Christianity — there is cohesion across many different groups.

It’s important to know that and to understand that, because it appears that “on the surface” many of these Christian groups look different. It’s their core Christianity which is the same.

And that’s why — when it comes to Mormonism — it stands out like a sore thumb. They’re *so radically different* (in teachings and doctrines) that it’s *totally unrecognizable* as Christianity in *any form*.

Star Traveler

I’m just glad that the polls were so horribly wrong on Mrs. Clinton. They all had her in a draw with Obama and Edwards... It is a beautiful thing. What makes it sweeter is the turnout on the Dem side. It was close to double of the 2004 election. That tells me that people are coming out to vote AGAINST Mrs. Clinton.

That is my opinion anyway.

No matter what, it is a good night.

How are you guys?

It was quite a contrast from the Breck girl and I wouldn’t count her out yet although a third place finish is newsworthy. McCain coming in third scares me to death.

I saw the Breck girl give his speech earlier. Same 'ol shouting about "Two Americas" and "corporate greed". Geesh, who ARE all those people supporting this smarmy ambulance chaser? Makes me wonder what type of people are living in this country...

Yes, I agree about McCain. He will probably have a strong showing - and possibly win - in New Hampshire. Scares me to death also...

I sure can make that kind of determination for whether someone is a Christian or not, from what they say — when it is going to be my vote that I cast.

You know I think you're right, you can make a determination about someones Christianity from what they say. From your pretentious, self-rightous, bigotry you have demonstrated that you certainly cannot be a follower of Jesus and therefore must not be a Christian.

Romney is far from over. Iowa has been an anomaly as far as the primaries go. The immediate problem for Romney is that now McCain will probably get a boost in NH. From the standpoint of the border and the illegals issue McCain is a disaster.

Iowa went for Bush in 2004. Now Dim caucus goers outnumber us more than 2 to 1.

You said — “Excellent post — agree completely and bears repeating.”

Repeat all you want, but you’ll notice that Huckabee walked away with the Evangelical vote... It should be clear who the voters recognized the most...

For me, the *first criteria* is that a candidate is Christian. Thompson has failed that criteria with me. Then after seeing that a candidate is Christian (which would have to be someone other than Thompson), then one can get into the political matters...

This sure is putting Governor Romney into a position of having to win Michigan just to tread water. $30 million in Iowa and New Hampshire and no better than 2nd in both?

I have no grounds to chide anyone over stridency! LOL.

Preach on, Bro.

Though on more than an occasion or 3, both of us could probably practice a bit harder being more hearable to a wider range of folks.
